Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Nobody defrosts Pierre!"

Answer: Maurice

From "The Body in Question" episode. The wacky townsfolk believe a frozen body is a French Revolution survivor whose diary may hold the key to disproving European history. Maurice was determined to keep Pierre well preserved for the possibility of cashing in on him.
2. "That means daddy was a traveling man."

Answer: Chris and Bernard together

From the "Aurora Borealis: A Fairy Tale for Big People" episode. Upon uttering this line Chris and Bernard agree they are half brothers after comparing pictures of their father.
3. "I despise the tyranny of the strong over the weak. I think people who abuse power are nothing more than cowards."

Answer: Roslyn

In the "Cicely" episode we see how the town was culturally built up by the visionary Cicely and her iron-willed lover, Roslyn. In this instance, she was defending the timidity of a Christian woman singing hymns in a bar full of drunken haggards.
4. "This business of 'soiling', does it remind you of anything?"

Answer: Sigmund Freud

This line is from "Jules et Joel". During his episode-long dream, Joel ends up in a jail cell with Sigmund Freud who, of course, begins a psychoanalysis session.
5. "Well, you know, maybe I'll burn down your house down, Fleischman. You know, it runs in the family."

Answer: Maggie

In the "Ill Wind" episode, we see Maggie and Joel at each other's throats with legal actions and (for Joel) an eviction notice from landlord Maggie. Her reference to familial genes refers to the "Burning Down the House" episode wherein Maggie's mother leaves a cigarette lit which burns down Maggie's house.
6. "I brought you something. 'Black Sabbath'. Bootleg. Recorded it myself at the Cow Palace."

Answer: Satan

From "The Robe" episode. Satan is played by Charles Martin Smith of all people! He is out to corrupt Shelly's good nature by offering her gifts/wishes in return for burning Holling's favorite bath robe.
7. "I don't eat cheese either. I'm a Vegan. Sorry."

Answer: Peter Bogdanovich

From the "Rosebud" episode. Bogdanovich (director of "Mask") was in Cicely to support Ed and Maurice's attempt to duplicate the Sundance Film Festival. In addition to turning down Maurice's osso bucco, Bogdanovich also turned down fancy cheese. He settled for tomato slices.
8. "I'm very allergic, Ed."

Answer: Mike Monroe

From the "Blowing Bubbles" episode. Mike was "living in a geodesic dome off Highway 3" because he was allergic to "the 20th century."
9. "Environment is the determining factor in character."

Answer: Vladimir Lenin

In "Zarya" we again see the townsfolk playing olden characters as in the "Cicely" episode. This time, they were bombarded with Russian comrades who were in town to forge "The Treaty of Cicely" with Princess Anastasia Romanov. Lenin was enlightened by the townsfolk's abilities to function successfully and peacefully in bourgeois society. Rhoda (Ruth-Anne) especially shed new light on his staunch ideologies.
10. "You're a hypochondriac of epic proportions. You're the Mozart of hypochondria!"

Answer: Dr. Fleischman

In the "Lost and Found" episode, Joel was quite upset to again see Eve. After all, she did hit him over the head, shackle him, and force him to be her enslaved doctor in "The Bumpy Road to Love" episode!
