Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The First Cut is the Deepest" - The song that gave the episode its title was actually performed during the episode.

Answer: True

Throughout the episode, Haley is trying to get tickets to a Sheryl Crow show, but fails. At the end of the episode, after the show, Sheryl Crow comes into Karen's Café and Haley agrees to trade her a cup of coffee for a song, and she performs the episode's namesake song, "The First Cut is the Deepest."
2. "Spirit of the Night" - One of the Ravens cheerleaders gets sent home sick with the chicken pox. Who fills in for her?

Answer: Haley

Haley is on the trip with the team because Lucas asked her to come along, and Peyton convinces her to fill in for the absent cheerleader. Teresa is the cheerleader that got sent home sick, allow the girls to skip out on their curfew so they could practice. Bevin is already a cheerleader, and although Karen used to be a cheerleader and was on the trip, she did not fill in (though she did with Haley).
3. "To Wish Impossible Things" - It's the Boy Toy Auction! Which of these couples actually DID end up together on this night?

Answer: Brooke and Mouth

The 'couples' for the night were: Peyton and Nathan, Lucas and Haley, Jake and Nikki, Brooke and Mouth, and Deb and Tim. Needless to say, it was an, ummm, interesting night.
4. "How Can You Be Sure?" - Which of these people did not know about Lucas and Brooke's pregnancy scare?

Answer: Haley

Brooke was late, so she went to Lucas to tell him she thought she was pregnant. She took a home test, and it said she was, so she and Lucas went a family planning clinic, where Dan happened to see them. Lucas told both his mother and Jake about it, hoping to get some perspective (at least from Jake) on the subject, but in the end, Brooke turned out to not be pregnant.
5. "What Is and What Should Never Be" - What is the name of Nathan's boss at his new job, "Hot and Twisted," a pretzel stand in the mall?

Answer: Gary

Nathan had sold the car Dan gave him to pay his rent, but Dan demanded that money back, so Nathan was forced to get a job. He has barely started filling out the job application when Gary asks him if he can start right away, and he does. His boss' name is visible on his name tag, and Nathan also mentions it later in the episode.
6. "The Leaving Song" - Who actually leaves in this episode?

Answer: Jake

Keith, Lucas and Nikki all leave Tree Hill in the next episode, Nikki to Seattle (where she thinks Jake took Jenny) and Keith and Lucas to Charleston. However, in this episode, Jake fears that Nikki will win a custody battle if one comes up, so he flees Tree Hill by way of Peyton's dad's boat, down to Savannah, where he has relatives.
7. "The Games That Play Us" - Which major event did NOT happen in this episode?

Answer: Jake leaves Tree Hill

Jake left Tree Hill in the previous episode, "The Leaving Song," but Nikki is seen leaving in this episode, and it is revealed at the end of the episode that Nathan and Haley got married, and it is strongly implied that they did so so that they could have sex.
8. "Every Night Is Another Story" - What team do the Ravens play?

Answer: Pickerington

Cove City was the Ravens' opponent in "With Arms Outstretched," and Masonboro was their opponent in the first playoff game in "The Games That Play Us."
9. What are Nathan's grandparents' names?

Answer: Royal and May

We meet Royal and May Scott, Dan and Keith's parents (and Lucas and Nathan's grandparents) in "Crash Course in Polite Conversation" when they come to visit for Dan's birthday. Dan's mother, May, reveals a big secret - that Dan was never forced to quit basketball because of his injury - it was actually Dan's choice.
10. What other couple has a date during "To Wish Impossible Things"?

Answer: Karen and Larry

Larry asks Karen to dinner, and later, they go dig up a time capsule that Karen had buried in the middle of the football field when she was in high school.
