Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nathan was thought to be a hero in season four for saving Cooper and Rachel after the limo accident. But, Nathan felt someone else was the hero that day, who was it?

Answer: Keith

Nathan panicked under water, and was sure he saw Keith. He didn't share this information right away, but eventually did tell Luke. Luke told Peyton, and somehow Rachel found out as well. Nathan did tell Haley, but not until a few episodes into the season. Rachel had become too interested in Nathan at this point, and was using all things to her advantage to manipulate him.
2. Peyton discovered she had a brother this season. What was the name of her half-brother?

Answer: Derek

Peyton discovered this when a piece of paper came out of one of Ellie's Led Zeppelin albums. She first told Luke, and I was hoping her brother would be Mouth, but it was Derek. I am not sure what the paper could have said, unless it was a note from her real dad to Ellie, and it talked about his own child. When she finally worked up the courage to call him, whomever she spoke to told her never to call back. Not too longer after this, Derek appeared on her doorstep, or so she thought...

Matt Barr played psycho Derek in seven episodes of season four.
3. After Brooke, who was next to find out about Haley's pregnancy?

Answer: Lucas

Brooke allowed people to think she was pregnant instead of Haley. She did try to say that she wasn't pregnant, but she didn't protest too hard when people pried even further. Rachel was so convinced it was Brooke, she gave her pamphlets and told the news to some folks. Mouth overheard the girls fighting about it after Rachel's party, and told Brooke he thought she'd make a great mother. Haley, petrified to tell Nathan, told Luke that it was her, not Brooke, who was pregnant. Luke had come to the conclusion a bit earlier that Brooke was pregnant, but Chris Keller was the father.
4. Which one of these choices does NOT describe Peyton's real half-brother?

Answer: His name is Rex

After Lucas sought police help in investigating Derek, they brought in the real Derek for interrogation. When Lucas saw him, he realized that Peyton was still unsafe and ran out of the station. The real Derek followed him, and the two save Peyton from her stalker, whose name was still unknown at that time. The fake brother was sent out of the window of Peyton's bedroom and landed on the ground below in a pile of wood and glass debris.

The real Derek Sommers was played by actor Ernest Waddell. Fans may have seen him in "The Wire", "The Bedford Diaries", and "Law and Order: SVU" as well.
5. In the tension filled season four episode "Some You Give Away", the Ravens played in the North Carolina State Championship game. Which Ravens teammate hit the winning three point shot to beat Pontiac?

Answer: Lucas

Nathan told Lucas, at the river court, that he was planning to throw the game to save himself from Daunte. Lucas told Skills that they would have to freeze Nathan out of the game in order to save it. The first half ended in a fight between Nathan and Skills on the court, with the score 36-21 Pontiac. During their half time, Whitey played them the radio announcers broadcast from the game Dan lost the Ravens 18 years prior.

He admitted that he hadn't imagined at that time he would only have once chance to erase the feeling that night had left him with.

This changed Nathan's perspective and he came out in the second half full of energy. In the final seconds of the game, Nathan passed the ball off to Skills, Skills passed it back to Nathan and Nathan sent it to Lucas on the outside. Lucas hit a buzzer beater three pointer to win by one point. Lucas had forgone taking his HCM medicine for that one night, just to make sure he could compensate for Nathan's bad play.

It was a mistake.
6. "Resolve"- Nathan and Skills decide to participate in a strip off, dancing for cash. Choreographed by Mouth, what song do the men dance to?

Answer: "It's Tricky" by RUN DMC

At the last moment, Skills chickened out and Mouth had to go onstage with Nathan. The song is so catchy, that alone could have won the competition. But, the boys took it off with enthusiasm as well, and Bevin coaxed Skills into the dance for that last minute. Nathan wanted quick cash for a maternity prom dress for Haley to wear.

While I find that to be sweet, as pending teen parents that money could have been better spent.
7. "Pictures of You" offered the main cast a look into each others' points of view, and brought along some minor cast roles into the mix. They spent a class period paired up with someone drawn at random out of Nathan's hat. Which choice is an incorrect student pairing?

Answer: Skills and Brooke

The teacher wanted the class to ponder the idea of how quickly your life could change. He offered five general descriptions that applied to all high-school students: jock, geek, prom queen, loner, and friendly. When he asked the class who they thought each one applied to, they all spoke their opinion aloud. The class labeled Nathan and Luke as jocks, Peyton and Brooke as prom queens, and Shelly labeled Mouth as friendly and then geek. He had half the class place their names in Nathan's hat, and the other half drew out a name. Peyton drew Chase's name, but traded it with Brooke, who happened to have Nathan. Skills and Haley were paired and Lucas paired with Glenda.

At the end of the episode, lives and opinions were changed in under an hour. Mouth and Shelly decided to go to prom together, Lucas shared his manuscript with Glenda and helped open her mom's eyes, Skills got a full ride to college, and Bevin revealed she was not a dumb as everyone thought she was.
8. The season started winding down with Prom. In "You Call It Madness, But I Call It Love", psycho Derek tried to finish off his relationship with Peyton. Who helped Peyton stop the stalker from killing her?

Answer: Brooke

Peyton told Luke that she wasn't going to Prom. Luke said he would come to get her, but if she still said she wasn't going that he would go alone. When Brooke found out that Peyton wasn't coming to the dance, she went to her house looking for her. The crazed man held Brooke and Peyton in Peyton's basement until she changed her tactic.

She acted as though she wanted to kill Brooke (for revenge) and that she did want to be with him. He gave her his knife, albeit hesitantly, and she used it on him. He chased her upstairs and Peyton boxed him around her room.

When he finally overpowered her again, Brooke came in and hit him with a walking cane. A huge fight ensued and the duo sent psycho Derek down the Sawyer staircase. He was later taken away by ambulance. Fans of the show had to be on the edge of their seats, as part one "Prom Night at Hater High" aired February 21st and the second part didn't air until May 2nd!
9. Skills gets the cryptic text message from Mouth in "It Gets the Worst at Night".

Answer: True

Mouth needs help and sends a text out to Skills. The text is short, stating that Mouth needs help, and to come to Honey Grove, Texas. This real location was the home town of a contest winner who entered the Sunkist/CW video contest. Skills alerted Lucas, who was sleeping with Peyton and Brooke at the time.

The four of them met up with Haley and Nathan and they all decided on one last road trip to help Mouth.
10. "It Gets the Worst at Night"- Though it took a bit of time to find out, why was Mouth arrested in Honey Grove?

Answer: sleeping in the park

Mouth was happy to see his friends arrive to get him out of jail, but he kept saying his reason for being there was "a long story". He finally revealed most of it to one of them, but revealed his reason for arrest to most of them at one time. He told Chris Keller that Rachel had made him feel really special, but that the whole time he really did know they were a lie.

It was when she used the same line on another guy, that Mouth knew it was time to go home. He told her that, and she split without saying goodbye.

She left him a picture of the two of them that read on the back "I could have loved the boy in that picture". This was a similar statement he'd said to her about her overweight photo.
11. "It Gets the Worst at Night"- How did Chris Keller describe Honey Grove as they all stepped off of his tour bus?

Answer: "Sweetest Town in Texas"

On the town's website, that is their town motto. Chris had rescued the group off of the side of the road when Rachel's Denali broke down. Brooke was driving at the time, taking her turn while the rest of the gang slept. Chris said he was heading to Honey Grove, which was hard to believe, as the town is so tiny.

While in town, they had to wait for the truck to be repaired, so they crashed the high-school Prom. This is where Brooke finally revealed to Haley that she was the one who stole the test, and not Rachel who'd confessed.
12. Did Dan ever turn himself into authorities for Keith's murder?

Answer: Yes

After Lucas found out the truth, Dan was still unwilling to admit what he had done to Keith the day Jimmy Edwards took the school hostage. Abby had finally admitted what happened, but she and her family left town immediately following her confession. Luke had no proof of Dan's culpability. And, since Dan was trying to get Karen to love him again, Luke had no choice but to force Dan to come clean.

He used Deb's gun and a text message to get his mom to know the truth, but she collapsed at realizing that Dan shot Keith.

After Karen delivered Keith's daughter, Dan turned himself into the police.
13. Who did Haley ask to be James' godparents?

Answer: Lucas and Brooke

Haley chose her two best friends to be the godparents of little James Lucas Scott. Brooke was moving to California, but Luke would be very nearby.
14. Mouth kissed Brooke at the official end of senior year.

Answer: True

Mouth was on the roof of the party house with Skills and spun a bottle. It pointed, generally, in Brooke's direction. So, Mouth jumped off of the roof and walked right up to Brooke and kissed her on the mouth. Afterward, he said "I always wanted to do that", and apologized to Chase as he walked away.

Not long after that event, Chase and Brooke consummated their relationship inside a car.
15. What did Karen name her daughter?

Answer: Lily

While she was dying in the hospital, Karen dreamed of Keith. In the dream, their daughter was about four years old and playing in some flowers. Keith told her to go take care of their daughter and to look for him in the lilies. Later, at his grave site, she took Lily to talk to Keith. She named their daughter Lily Rose Scott.

Karen was the only one to visit Dan after his confession, and she told him that one day she would have to explain to Lily that her uncle stole away her father, for her entire life. She spat on the glass before she walked away, and later Dan tried to hang himself. The noose broke and Dan crashed to his cell floor. Yeah, like Keith would let him get away with it that easily...
