Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Happy

Answer: Camden

Happy belonged to the Camden Family in "7th Heaven" particularly to Simon, the fourth child. Simon begs his parents for a dog in the pilot episode but they think he is too young so he prays for one. A stray dog then appears in the front garden which the family adopt.

She was named after the dog that portrayed her, a mixed breed terrier that was rescued from an animal shelter by trainer Shawn Webber. She then attended 'Boone's Animals for Hollywood' where she was professionally trained. "7th Heaven" was her first acting role and she appeared in all 243 episodes of the show.

She died in 2010 at the age of 15.
2. Brandon

Answer: Brewster

Brandon belongs to Punky Brewster in the show of the same name. Punky was abandoned by her father early in life and then her mother leaves her at a shopping centre with Brandon. Punky finds a vacant apartment and moves in but is found by the apartment's supervisor Henry Warnimont who ends up becoming her foster father.

Brandon was originally played by golden retriever brothers Sandy and Brandy. They were puppies in the pilot but as they grew they began to look different and Sandy took over the role on his own. Brandy was actually the more active and intelligent but Sandy loved to work and always wanted to please the trainers.

Sandy was adopted by a family after the series ended and has since died.
3. Murray

Answer: Buchman

Murray was the Buchmans' mixed breed collie on "Mad About You". Paul Buchman finds Murray in Central Park as a puppy and meets his wife-to-be Jaimie while walking him. Murray is an integral part of the show appearing in 107 of the 162 episodes.

Murray is a lazy but lovable dog who is often said to be 'not all there'. He spends a lot of time chasing an invisible mouse and running into walls although Jaimie does find a mouse towards the end of the series.

He is played by Maui, another animal found in a California shelter by trainer Boone Narr. He also appeared in several commercials, was the understudy for "Bingo" in the film of the same name and had a starring role in "Santa's Slay".
4. Flash

Answer: Coltrane

Flash was the basset hound owned by Rosco Purvis Coltrane in "The Dukes of Hazard." Rosco is the corrupt sheriff who is in cahoots with the also corrupt county commissioner "Boss' Hogg. They both try to catch out the Duke boys as they are forever ruining their schemes.

Flash doesn't appear until season three, he was originally a male but changed to being female later in the show. Rosco loved the dog and spoilt him and was totally frustrated by the fact that the dog loved the Duke's and hated Boss Hogg.

Flash was played by a 60 pound basset called Sandy - yet another rescue from a shelter. She was already seven at the time and had been scheduled to be euthanised. James Best (the actor who played Rosco) actually bought half of the dog from the trainer and got him a private dressing room on set.
5. Buck

Answer: Bundy

Buck was the briard owned by the Bundy family in "Married With Children". He appeared in the premiere and remained on the show until his death in season 10. Buck developed an internal dialogue in season four which the viewer was privy too. Most of the time he was insulting the family or fantasising about other dogs that he meets. When he dies he is punished for not being a loyal pet and reincarnated as Lucky, the Bundys' new dog.

Buck was played by Michael who was found via an advert by his trainer Steven Ritt. Buck's death was written into the series to allow Michael to retire as he was getting too old to continue. He died nine months later at age thirteen.
6. Freeway

Answer: Hart

Freeway was the 'mixed breed' dog belonging to Jonathan and Jennifer Hart in "Hart to Hart". The Harts are millionaire amateur detectives who spend their days solving crimes. Freeway was found by the couple in a box at the side of the freeway, hence the name, and became their pampered pet who often helped them on their investigations.

He was played by Charlie Gray who was actually a pedigree unclipped Lowchen. Yet another rescue from a shelter by his trainer, Bob Blair Senior. Charlie was found to be an extremely quick learner and played the role of Freeway on his own for all 5 seasons. Eight TV movies were made after he had died and the part of Freeway Junior was actually played by Charlie's son.
7. Comet

Answer: Tanner

Comet is the golden retriever owned by the Tanner family in "Full House". He made his appearance in season three when a strange dog named Minnie turns up in their backyard. She is obviously pregnant and ends up giving birth on Jesse's bed. When her owner finds her he offers them one of the puppies as a thank you. Comet has a few main storylines throughout the years but is often just seen as part of the family.

Comet was played by Buddy who was owned by actor/writer Kevin DiCocco who found him wandering in the mountains as a young dog. After "Full House" finished in 1995 Buddy starred in "Air Bud" but was then diagnosed with cancer and had to have his leg amputated in 1997. He died in his sleep a year later at approximately 10 years of age.
8. Dreyfuss

Answer: Weston

Dreyfuss is the Saint Bernard belonging to the Weston family in "Empty Nest". The show is a spin off from "The Golden Girls" and also led to its own spin off called "Nurses" and Dreyfuss also appears in both of these.

Dreyfuss is played by Bear who is actually a saint/golden retriever cross owned by trainer Joel Silverman. For once he was not a stray but is actually the son of Boomer, another dog actor. His brother Bodi has also appeared in movies and when Dreyfuss needs to exert energy he is played by Bear's brother Julio who is a bit more athletic.

Before he started on "Empty Nest" Bear also had roles in "Wishbone" and "Heartbeat".
9. Chester

Answer: Babcock

Chester is the Pomeranian owned by C.C. Babcock on "The Nanny". He was bought for her by Maxwell as a birthday present to stop her feeling lonely. It was a standing joke on the show that the dog loathed her but loved Fran. C.C. also kept losing the dog by leaving him behind when she went places with it.

Chester was actually Fran Drescher's own dog. Apart from "The Nanny" he also had a part in the movie "Cadillac Man". He died in 2002 at the age of 19.
10. Tiger

Answer: Brady

Tiger belongs to the Brady family in "The Brady Bunch." He originally belonged to the boys and the girls had a cat called Fluffy which caused an issue in the beginning of the series but Fluffy was never seen or mentioned again.

Tiger was actually the name of the dog who portrayed him originally. He was hit by a car and died before episode four. The trainer managed to find a replacement, who was named Tiger Two, but he wasn't an actor like the original and was scared by all the noise and lights (they had to nail his collar to the floor in one scene) so it was decided to only have him on set when the storyline demanded it. This meant that he was only in a total of 10 episodes in the first two years and then he just disappeared with no explanation.

The doghouse, however, remained in the garden throughout the series. This was because a fallen studio light burned a hole in the astro turf so they just moved the kennel to cover the patch
