Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whose wedding in "Friends" turned rather awkward when the groom used an ex-girlfriend's name during the vows?

Answer: Ross Geller and Emily Waltham

"Friends" was an American sitcom that ran for ten seasons from 1994 and won multiple awards. 51.1 million viewers watched the series finale, making it the most watched episode of the decade and the fourth most watched series finale at the time it aired.

Ross and Emily were married in the season four finale in London when Ross made the terrible mistake of calling her Rachel during the vows.

Ross and Rachel had an on again/off again relationship for most of the series. They married while drunk in Las Vegas at the end of season five but divorced in season six.

Monica and Chandler were the next to tie the knot but not until the season seven finale and Phoebe and Mike's nuptials were halfway through the final season.
2. Three of these weddings occurred during their respective shows' series finales. Which one did NOT?

Answer: Abby Lockhart and Luka Kovac

Luka and Abby were from the television series "E.R.". They began their relationship in season seven and were together for about a year before breaking up at the beginning of season eight. They then reconciled and had a baby in season twelve and a surprise wedding towards the end of season thirteen. E.R. continued until the end of season fifteen in 2009.

David and Donna were high school sweethearts who finally tied the knot in 2000 on the series finale of "Beverly Hills, 90210" in the show's tenth season.

Peter and Amanda were from "Melrose Place" and were shown getting married on a tropical beach in the series final - after they faked their own deaths to escape the law. They were previously married during seasons five and six.

And the tenth and final season finale of "Happy Days" gave us the long awaited wedding of Joanie and Chachi.
3. Which of these "Coronation Street" characters HAVEN'T been married more than once to each other?

Answer: Hilda and Stan Ogden

"Coronation Street" was broadcast for the first time on the 9th of December 1960. It is an English soap based on the residents who live in the street situated in fictional Weatherfield, Manchester.

The Ogdens first appeared in 1964 and remained married through thick and thin until Stan's death twenty years later. 27 million viewers (the highest to date) watched three years later when Hilda left the show.

The Websters first marry in 1986 and divorce in 1997 after Kevin has an affair. They remarry in 2002 and divorce again in 2010 following another affair of Kevins. The marriage survives Sally's infidelity of 2005.

Karen and Steve's first wedding is in 2001, happening as the result of a bet. Karen later decides that they need to have a 'proper' wedding so they get divorced and end up remarrying in a huge expensive service in 2004.

Ken and Deirdre are first married in 1981 and divorce in 1990. They both have multiple relationships before they reconcile in 1999 and live together until they finally remarry in 2005.
4. This prime time show's 1985 season finale involved a wedding that ended with a group of terrorists open firing on the couple and their guests in the church. Which show and couple had this wedding?

Answer: "Dynasty" - Amanda Carrington and Prince Michael of Moldavia

"Dynasty" was the main rival to "Dallas" in the new '80s prime time soap operas. It ran from 1981 to 1989 and revolved around the wealthy Carrington family. The 'Moldavian massacre' as it became known had sixty million viewers and was the biggest TV episode of the year. In 2011 the "Entertainment Weekly" ran a list of the most 'Unforgettable Cliff-Hangers' and it came in at seventh place.

Moldavia was in a state of unrest at the time of their marriage and a group of rebels decided to undertake a coup and attempt to assassinate Prince Michael during the wedding. The season finale ended with everyone lying on the floor either wounded or dead.

Rumour has it that the producers were in pay negotiations with the cast and would decide who lived or died depending on how they turned out. In the end only two minor characters were killed.
5. All of these much anticipated weddings in Australian soap history unfortunately ended in the death of one of the spouses within thirteen months. Which of these marriages ended soonest in this manner?

Answer: Toadfish Rebecchi and Dee Bliss ("Neighbours")

It was a long and complicated road to the altar for Toadie and Dee but they finally made it in 2003. After a large wedding the happy couple drove off to start their honeymoon, a momentary loss of concentration while they shared a brief kiss led to them driving off the edge of a cliff and into the sea. Toadie survived but Dee's body was never found.

The next shortest was Terri and Mitch (2003) with Mitch dying during surgery for a brain tumour just one week after their vows.

Angel and Shane (1995) made it to just over a year. Shane became ill and collapsed on their anniversary and died shortly after from septicaemia - a result of his previous splenectomy following a motorbike accident.

Ben and Melissa are the most recent. Finally married in 2009, audiences watched their love story continue through their short marriage until Melissa was killed in a car accident by taking her eyes of the road to read a text from Ben who was waiting for her in a hotel where he had planned a romantic getaway. The exact length of their marriage is unknown but from surrounding events in the show it appears to be roughly a year. (We saw Ben's sister Ruby born a few weeks after their marriage and Melissa was dead not long before her first birthday.)
6. Brooke Logan was married multiple times in "The Bold and the Beautiful". Which of these men from the Forrester family did she NOT marry?

Answer: Rick Forrester

Rick was Brooke's son with Eric Forrester who was the father of both Ridge and Thorne to whom she was also married (as well as Ridge's half brother Nick Marone).

Brooke was married multiple times. Her first husband was Eric Forrester to whom she was married for two years between 1991 and 1993. She then married Grant Chambers in 1997 followed by her first marriage to Ridge, in 1998, which lasted a year. Three years later in 2001 she married his brother Thorne and the year after that, Whipple Jones III. Then we had a hiatus for three years before she remarried Eric Forrester which also only lasted a year. Next was a year's marriage with Nick and then back to Ridge again with a marriage that lasted from 2009 to 2011.
7. The long awaited wedding of this couple was rather strange in the fact that the groom, the bride's mother and their celebrant had already died. Which couple?

Answer: Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt ("Charmed")

Piper and Leo's romance began in season one and finally culminated in their wedding in the fifteenth episode of season three. Leo was born in 1924 and died during the Second World War; he then became a 'white lighter'. Both the girls' mother (Patty) and grandmother (Penny) died before the series began and appeared as ghosts.

This was their third attempt at a wedding. Leo was orbed away by the elders at their first try and Prue's astral body gatecrashed and ruined the second attempt but they were finally married in a small ceremony at the manor. Their grandmother performed the service which was attended by the sisters, their parents, Cole Turner and Darryl Morris.

Lynn Dinovi and Lee Scanlon married in season six of "Medium" but they and their guests were all still living.

Melinda and Jim were already married when "Ghost Whisperer" began but Jim was killed in season four. He then possessed the body of a man who had just died and they ended up remarrying at the end of the season. He may be technically considered dead and there were many spirits at the service but the main participants are alive.

Though many supernatural things happened in the soap "Passions", the priest, Ethan, Theresa and her mother were all present in their original physical bodies. The wedding was interrupted by the groom's mother crashing her car into the church but that's another story.
8. This 1987 wedding between two young members of the Australian show "Neighbours" was an all time ratings winner in both Australia and England. Who were the bride and groom?

Answer: Charlene Mitchell and Scott Robinson

"Neighbours" was first broadcast in 1985. It became the longest running drama series in Australia and it is one of its most successful exports being sold to over 50 countries. The show was extremely popular in the U.K. - at one time it was their highest rating daytime programme.

Scott was an original on the show while Charlene joined a year later. The young teenage lovers had a rocky relationship but married in 1987 at the age of 18. The broadcast a year later in the U.K. had 20 million viewers tuning in to see the pair exchange their vows.

Vicki Dean and Simon Bowen finally wed in 1983 on "A Country Practise". Sally Fletcher and Flynn Saunders were from "Home and Away" and had their happy day in 2003 while Tom and Grace were the last to wed in 2004 on "Blue Heelers".
9. There were only three weddings among the four main ladies of "Sex and the City" during the TV series. Which one of these was NOT one of them?

Answer: Aidan Shaw and Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie and Aidan met in season three and had a virtually perfect relationship - until Carrie started an affair with Big (her ex-boyfriend) which ended their relationship (and Big's marriage.) They met again in season four and Carrie convinced him to try again and Aidan agreed. They moved in together and became engaged but broke up when Carrie realised he didn't trust her. Carrie never married in the series but did eventually marry Big in the movie that followed.

Miranda and Steve met in the second season and had an on again/off again relationship until they finally married in season six in a small ceremony.

All Charlotte ever wanted was to marry and be a mother and she married twice during the series. Trey was her first husband whom she met and married in season three. The marriage only lasted a year and Charlotte's second husband was her divorce attorney, Harry, whom she met season five and married in season six.
10. Most series leave their weddings for a season finale but one show had its wedding in its premier episode. Who was this bride and groom?

Answer: Carol Martin and Mike Brady

The "Brady Bunch" aired for five seasons from 1969 to 1974. Most reviews of the show at the time were negative but it has received a huge amount of success in reruns and overseas syndication. It was shown constantly from its original run until the early 1990s and continued in syndication.

Mike and Carol married in the first episode with all sorts of disasters happening. Mike was a widower with three boys while Carol had three girls. Carol's husband or how their marriage ended were never mentioned although the producers intended for her to be divorced.

Becky and Jesse were from "Full House". Jesse was an original cast member and Becky joined the show in its second season. Their marriage took place in season four.

Robert and Amy from "Everybody Loves Raymond" finally tied the knot in season seven after many breakups from many issues for many seasons.

"How I Met You Mother"'s Lily and Marshall were together since their freshman year of college, for nine years before they married at the end of season two.
