"The Facts Of Life" premiered in 1979. It starred Charlotte Rae as Edna Garrett, the former housekeeper on "Diff'rent Strokes". She arrived at the Eastland school for girls as a housemother/dietician. "Hello, Larry" debuted in early 1979 as its own sitcom.

There later was a crossover episode where it was established that Larry Adler was an old friend of Philip Drummond. "Almost American" was a pilot of a spin-off series about an immigrant attending night school but it didn't sell.

Jim Nabors played Gomer Pyle, a gas station attendant on "The Andy Griffith Show", from 1963 to 1964. He went to join the Marines on his own sitcom ""Gomer Pyle USMC", which ran from 1964-1970.
