The show was created after the success of "The AFL Footy Show", to try and recreate the ratings of it and drawing in the NRL audience. The four original hosts were Paul Vautin, Peter Sterling, Steve Roach and Ray Hadley.

In 1999, Channel 9 attempted a comeback of the show but it failed to do any good.
