Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Shadow"- Episode sixteen takes the Winchesters to Chicago. While there, they run into Meg, whom Sam met in the episode "Scarecrow". Where did Meg say she was from?

Answer: Andover, Massachusetts

When Dean checked her out, her facts proved true. This did not totally ease Sam's mind. He knew that the odds of running into Meg again where slim, as she'd been headed for California the last time he saw her.
2. "Shadow"- Who did Meg say she met while out in California?

Answer: Chad Michael Murray

When Sam questioned her about her trip to California, she claimed that she met Chad, but overall did not have a good time. Meg picked the victims for the daeva by their link to Lawrence, Kansas. She knew this would get Sam and Dean's attention, and possibly bring John Winchester to town.
3. "Shadow"- The Winchester men killed Meg Masters before they all left Chicago.

Answer: False

Actually, the daeva took her out of a window to the street below. But, Meg was not dead. She watched Sam and Dean drive away, still very much alive. Meg seemed to be intricately linked to the demon that killed Sam's mother and his girlfriend Jessica.
Nicki Lynn Aycox played Meg. She turned 30 in May 2005.
4. "Hell House"- Episode 17 revolved around a legend in Richardson, Texas, off of Interstate 35.

Answer: True

It is the legend of the "Hell House". The run down wood house was supposedly inhabited by the ghost of Mordecai Murdock. It turned out that this legend was a rather recent one, in the sense it had been created out thin air two months prior by Craig Thurston and his cousin Dana.
Fun fact: Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) grew up around Richardson, Texas and went to school there as well.
5. "Hell House"- Dean revived an old habit of his in this episode. He started playing pranks on Sam, to which Sam retaliated. Which was NOT one of their pranks on each other?

Answer: Dean's car radio set to Operatic music

Sam did turn the volume up very high on the car radio. When Dean started the vehicle, it was so loud it startled him. Dean set things in motion, though, at the beginning of the episode by placing a plastic spoon in the mouth of a sleeping Sam. He took a picture of it with his cellphone camera, and then turned the radio up. Sam awoke with a spoon hanging out of his mouth. Sam was irritated by this and asked him not start that stuff up again. Dean laugh at him and Sam said "remember you started it." Dean replied with "bring it on baldy", referring to the time in their past when he'd replaced Sam's shampoo with Nair hair removal lotion. They ended their pranks on each other with one from each of them toward the owners of Hellhound's Lair, the website.
6. "Hell House"- Was Mordecai Murdock ever a real person?

Answer: No

Mordecai was said to be a Depression era farmer who'd murdered his three daughters in the 1930s to prevent them from starving. He'd supposedly hung each one and then himself. Upon investigating, Sam found out that real owner of that old house in the 1930s had been a man named Mark Murdock. Mark had two sons and never murdered anyone. Later, Craig Thurston admitted that he and his cousin had fabricated the entire story.

They'd gone into the house and painted all sorts of spooky symbols everywhere.

Some symbols were real theological symbols, and some were cool band art. Dean recognized one, but it took him some time to remember it was off of Blue Oyster Cult's album covers. It was Dana's painting of a real symbol, called a sigil, that allowed the new legend of Mordecai Murdock to take on a life of its own.

This fake ghost effectively became a tulpa, feeding off of the energy of people reading the website. In the end, Dean burned down the old house to trap Mordecai inside.
7. "Hell House"- Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler claimed ownership over "Hellhound'slair.com". During their investigation of the Hell House, Ed said this: "Remember - WWBD. What would Buffy do?" Which real life medium did Ed reference next?

Answer: John Edward

"WWBD" is a play on the popular term "WWJD", asking 'what would Jesus do?' Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler is a play on the 1984 movie "Ghostbusters". In that movie, Ernie Hudson played Winston Zeddmore and Harold Ramis played Dr. Egon Spangler. In this episode, Ed asked 'what would Buffy do', and then more appropriately, 'what would John Edward do?' John Edward is a highly respected medium who had his own hit Sci Fi series, "Crossing Over", and then went on to create a series for WE called "John Edward, Cross Country". Patricia Arquette portrays real life medium Allison Dubois on "Medium" and James Van Praagh is a consultant for "Ghost Whisperer". "Ghost Whisperer" is about a fictional medium named Melinda Gordan, played by actress Jennifer Love Hewitt.
8. "Something Wicked"- A small town in Wisconsin is being affected by a shtriga, an Albanian witch. What was the name of this town?

Answer: Fitchburg

Fitchburg is a real town in Wisconsin. When the subtitles revealed the location, Fitchburg was spelled correctly. But, when the Winchester men arrived, the sign read 'Fitchberg, Pop. 20,501'. A little continuity mistake makes my job as quiz maker even more fun!
This threat to the town's children brought back some hard memories for Dean.
9. "Something Wicked"- When Dean checked himself and Sam into the local motel he paid with which form of currency?

Answer: credit

Dean asked the desk clerk if they accepted Mastercard. She confirmed that was fine, and he handed her the credit card of one Kris Warren. I have no idea if there is any connection, but there is a special affects person named Chris Warren that works on many sci-fi ventures.
10. "Something Wicked"- Who did the shtriga turn out to be?

Answer: Dr. Hydecker

Sam went to the A.W. Stowe Library in Fitchburg to research the phenomenon of so many children falling ill. He reported back to Dean that not only had this happened in their past, but it had occurred in several other Wisconsin towns. The creature used a human disguise to pass itself off. Sam found a picture of the local doctor, Hydecker, taken in 1893. Sam and Dean had the aid of Michael, whose brother Asher had been attacked, to lure out the shtriga. Michael and Asher were the sons of the lady who ran the motel.

It came for Michael, as expected, but in the end attacked Sam. This time, Dean was able to kill the shtriga and save Sam. The episode ends with Ozzy Osborne's song "Road to Nowhere".
