I really need to stop watching Lifetime occasionally in the morning! I never saw this show but I think it's pretty clever now that I'm catching reruns. Have fun recalling "The Nanny"!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For how many seasons did "The Nanny" run, before it went off the air and into syndication?

Answer: 6

It debuted in 1993 and closed up shop, voluntarily as it was not cancelled, in 1999. I think it was a wise decision for them all to end it where they did. The whole series was built around the flirtation between the nanny and her boss and that double entendre stuff had gone through its beginning, middle and conclusion.
2. Yetta, Fran Fine's grandmother on "The Nanny", had to move in with the Sheffields after her retirement home suffered which of these problems?

Answer: termites

She didn't stay long, just long enough until the bug problem was dealt with. But during her short stay she was caught in bed with her "boyfriend", nearly started a fire, gave some mixed up advice to the children and just generally confused everything. Like the Sheffield household needed help in the confusion department!
3. On the show C.C. Babcock had a dog named Chester (remember the alleged "Lambchop" mauling incident---too funny!). In real life, the dog belonged to one of the players on the sitcom. Which one?

Answer: Fran Drescher (Fran)

Drescher was a co-producer so I'm sure wouldn't let anyone else's dog be cast. And poor Chester didn't really eat "Lambchop", despite accusations as such. The little hand puppet got mixed in with the laundry and disappeared down the chute for a while. Shari Lewis appeared on this episode to fine effect.
4. While on C.C. Babcock, do you know what the C.C. stood for?

Answer: Chastity Claire

I didn't know that until I looked it up! On the show poor C.C. never really got a break but she kept coming back for more. The banter between her and the butler Niles still makes me roll on the floor.
5. How did Maxwell lose Fran's initial engagement ring?

Answer: He got mugged and it was stolen.

Coming out of the back door of the theater one night Maxwell got mugged and so went the ring. Fran knew the proposal was coming and had a gathering of people at the mansion to celebrate when it did. When Max didn't show up as expected she knew something was wrong and went out and found him beaten silly in an alley.
6. The Sheffields and Fran were off on a vacation and, quite frankly, Niles just loved having the house to himself. In a moment of abandon, he was replicating a scene from a well known movie while enjoying his freedom. Do you remember which movie?

Answer: Risky Business

Yep, Niles was in his shorts pretending to be Tom Cruise singing "I Like That Old Time Rock-n-Roll". Then C.C. walked in. Naturally, Niles threatened to kill her if she ever uttered a word about it.
7. Did "The Nanny" ever win any Emmys?

Answer: yes

It did, but only one. It came in 1995 for Outstanding Costume Design, which seems like a dubious distinction. Fran's clothes were generally on the gawdy side, but they were noticeable. The show lost 8 other nominations during its run.
8. Maxwell Sheffield had a middle name. Do you know what it was?

Answer: Beverly

Another one I didn't know until I looked it up. That was a tough one---I'll go easier on the next question...
9. Did Elizabeth Taylor ever appear on the show?

Answer: yes

But of course! She ended up asking Fran to have a jewel necklace transported for her. Fran decided to do it herself, got into a cab with Rosie O'Donnell playing a cabbie (?), got into a crash, amnesia ensued, etc. All of that in only 20 minutes on the air!
10. Steve Lawrence appeared three times on the show. Once as himself in tandem with his wife Eydie Gorme and later as whom?

Answer: Fran's father

Fran met Steve and Eydie in Atlantic City on one episode. Later he showed up again, playing her up-until-then never seen Dad. And serenaded Sylvia which was a very nice way to be introduced to him (despite that toupee). I hope you had as much fun with this as I had writing it!
