They kissed in the episode "The One Where Chandler Hates Dogs" and then started dating despite the fact that she was his boss. They dated for a few months, but in the episode "The One Where They All Turn Thirty", Rachel was upset that she wasn't where she wanted to be in life and broke with Tag because he wasn't the one for her.

Dermot Mulroney first appeared as Gavin Mitchell in the episode "The One Where Rachel Goes Back To Work" and immediately sparked a contentious relationship with Rachel where they were constantly bickering. They kissed in the episode "The One with Phoebe's Rats". One episode later, "The One Where Monica Sings", Rachel ended things with Gavin because she didn't know where she was at in her relationship with Ross.
