Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Did you guys hear something moving around in the attic last night?"

Answer: Bart

As the first of the three stories opens, Bart and Lisa hear a strange thumping sound in the attic. At breakfast the next morning, they start trying to determine the source of the noises, but their parents avoid giving any direct answer. It's the Halloween episode, so we know there is something unusual going on - all will become clear shortly.
2. "Three, we have three kids."

Answer: Marge

After Homer angrily declares that Bart and Lisa should stop asking questions, and show some appreciation for their parents ("I've worked my butt off for you four kids"), Marge quickly corrects his slip, and steers the conversation away from the dangerous topic. Of course, this does not stop their inquiring minds - and their curiosity is not made any less when they see Homer carrying a bucket of fish heads up into the attic.
3. "You went into the attic? I'm very disappointed and terrified."

Answer: Marge

Bart supports Lisa as she props Maggie up to pull down the ladder that leads to the attic, and the three make their way up to investigate. They discover a pile of unsold copies of Homer's autobiography before a movement from the corner draws their attention, and they see restraints swinging on the wall, and a shadow disappearing downstairs.

When they report this to their parents, Marge immediately calls Dr. Hibbert to inform him that Hugo has escaped, and the good doctor arrives to help sort things out.
4. "I believe they prefer to be called conjoined twins."

Answer: Lisa

When Dr. Hibbert starts to explain that Marge delivered Siamese twins, Lisa offers this politically-correct term for his use. He goes on to explain that it was immediately clear that one of the twins was abnormally aggressive - we see one twin attempting to bite the other, and Marge comments, "I think I'll bottle feed that one."
5. "A routine soul smear confirmed the presence of pure evil."

Answer: Dr. Hibbert

When his concern about the nature of the evil twin was confirmed, Dr. Hibbert decided that the only thing to do was separate the two, and make the "normal" one safe from his twin. This raised the issue of what to do with the evil twin, who was described as being, "Too crazy for Boys Town, and too much of a boy for Crazy Town."
6. "We chained Hugo up in the attic and fed him a bucket of fish heads once a week."

Answer: Homer

This was hardly an ideal solution to the issue of dealing with a disabled child, but one that allowed everyone to get on with their lives. Except, of course, for poor Hugo. The trip to the attic we saw earlier is explained to Lisa's satisfaction, but Bart remains sceptical.
7. "If any of this was true, wouldn't I have a big hideous scar - Waaaagh!"

Answer: Bart

As Bart raises his shirt, we see a huge scar on the right side of his abdomen - let's not ask why he never noticed it before! Now that Bart's doubts are settled, everyone sets out to try and find Hugo, leaving Bart behind to guard the house. Of course, it turns out that Hugo never left the house.
8. "Perhaps we're all a little crazy. I know I am."

Answer: Hugo

After Hugo takes Bart to the attic and ties him down, he explains the plan - to reunite the twins by sewing them together. Bart, understandably, objects, anticipating that the procedure will be painful at best, and more likely fatal. Fortunately, the others return in time to interrupt things before Hugo can start the operation, and Dr. Hibbert knocks Hugo out.

This is the point at which he explains that the evil twin is always the one on the left, the sinister side (a reference to the Latin word 'sinister', meaning left).
9. "The evil twin is, and always has been, Bart."

Answer: Dr. Hibbert

A close look at Hugo's abdomen shows that his scar is on the left, making him the right twin. This makes it clear that Bart was the left twin, confirmed by the fact that the scar left on his abdomen from the separation is on his right side. He immediately responds, "Don't look so shocked." Since this entire segment is only a third of the half-hour episode, there is no time wasted on pity for Hugo, driven mad by his unjust incarceration, and we move quickly on to the resolution.
10. "I think there's a way to set everything right."

Answer: Dr. Hibbert

The next scene starts with the image of Dr. Hibbert wielding a large knife, with which he proceeds to cut off a turkey leg, which he serves to Hugo. Hugo's lack of social skills is demonstrated as he gobbles the turkey down, then proceeds to eat his napkin.

When Bart asks for some turkey through the grating, Marge tells him to finish his fish heads first, then slides the grating cover closed. And so ends the segment. As is generally the case for "Treehouse of Horror" episodes, the alternative reality it portrays is not seen again in the 'regular' episodes, in which there are only three children, and Bart roams free.
