8. One of my first television roles was as the beautiful announcer for a fictitious cable television show in 1991, then in 1998, I starred as the head of a private protection agency. Who was the well known actress that was featured in both roles?

Answer: Pamela Anderson

Anderson co-starred on the 1991 series "Home Improvement", playing Lisa, the original "Tool Time Girl" on Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor's cable television show "Tool Time". Lisa often assisted Tim and Al with their television projects, but her main job was to introduce the show to the television and in- studio audiences. She usually opened the show with, "Ladies and gentlemen, Binford Tools is proud to present Tim 'The Tool Man Taylor'.", which was followed by the audience applause. Comedian Tim Allen starred as Tim Taylor.
Pamela appeared in 49 episodes during the first six seasons of the show from 1991 until 1997.
In 1998, Pamela starred as Vallery Irons in the campy series "VIP". In the series, Vallery Irons was working in a Hot Dog stand when she (quite by accident) saved the life of a celebrity, and was mistaken for a bodyguard. A group of real bodyguards decided to seize the opportunity of Vallery's sudden fame, and made her the figurehead leader of their protection agency, which they rename, "Vallery Irons Protection", or "VIP" for short. The stories revolved around the silly amateur bodyguard Vallery Irons, as she interacted with the trained professional bodyguards and celebrity clients.
"VIP" aired for four seasons, from 1998 until 2002.
Anderson was busy during the 1990's. While working on "Home Improvement" from 1991-1997, she was also featured in a co-starring role in 111 episodes of the syndicated television series "Baywatch", playing one of the most popular character, blonde bombshell lifeguard C.J. Parker.

Pamela Denise Anderson was born on July 1, 1967, in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada
9. Ahoy there mates. They say that I have one of the most recognizable faces in television. Back in 1956, I played the title role of the greatest railroad engineer of all time. In 1965, I co-starred with my little buddy, as a captain on an ill fated three hour tour. Which popular television figure played roles on both of the series described?

Answer: Alan Hale

Always appearing as a happy and gregarious type character, Alan Hale, or Alan Hale Jr. as he was sometimes billed, became one of the most recognizable actors during a career which spanned 55 year. Alan Hale Jr., was the son of the great character actor of the 1930's and 1940's, Alan Hale Sr. Alan Hale Jr. appeared in over 200 motion pictures and television shows. In one of his early television roles, he portrayed the legendary train engineer in the 1957 series "Casey Jones". The series was about a frontier era steam engine train engineer who was also a dedicated husband and father. Casey traveled throughout the wild West, sitting behind the throttle of his #1 engine, called "The Cannonball Express". The series ran for one season.
Of his many roles, Hale will probably be best remembered as the pleasure boat captain, Jonas Grumby, or as he was always referred to "Skipper" on the 1964 series "Gilligan's Island". The series ran on network television for only three years, but was maintained through reruns and cable television, becoming one of the most popular syndicated series in the history of television. Millions have followed the exploits of the 'seven stranded castaways' over the years. The popular theme song identified the castaways as, "Gilligan, the skipper too, the millionaire, and his wife, the movie star, the professor and Mary Ann."
At some point following the death of his father, Alan Hale Jr. dropped the "Jr." from his name, and was known professionally as Alan Hale.
After the completion of "Gilligan's Island" run, Hale was almost always seen in public wearing his familiar captains, or "skippers" hat, which became his trademark for the remainder of his life.

Alan Hale was born as Alan Hale MacKahan on March 8, 1921, in Los Angeles, California. Hale died from respiratory failure due to cancer on January 2, 1990, in his birthplace, Los Angeles, California.
10. One of my first television jobs was appearing on a weekly comedy variety show back in 1967. They said at the time that I was cast in part due to the striking resemblance I had to the star of the show. Then in 1983, through television make-up magic, I played the elderly matriarch of a situation comedy family. Who was the actress that played these diverse roles?

Answer: Vicki Lawrence

Lawrence was part of the ensemble cast, along with Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, and announcer Lyle Waggoner, on the award winning comedy skit variety show "The Carol Burnett Show" in 1967. Vicki remained with the show for the entire 11 year run on the series. One of the regular comedy skits was expanded, and became the premise for the series "Mama's Family", which starred Vicki Lawrence as Thelma "Mama" Crowley-Harper. The 1983 series ran for two seasons on network television. After the series was canceled in 1985, new episodes were produced and shown in syndication for an additional five seasons. Lawrence's character was aged for the series, through make-up. Ironically, each of the three actors who portrayed her children on the show
(Carol Burnett, Ken Berry, and Betty White) were in fact at least 15 or more years older than Lawrence.

Vicki Lawrence was born Vicki Ann Axelrod on March 26, 1949, in Inglewood, California.
