Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka.

Answer: In The Night Garden

"In The Night Garden" is a show for pre school kids that aired between 2007 and 2009, running for 100 episodes.
Iggle Piggle is a blue doll with a red mohawk and an ever present red blanket which he carries everywhere with him. He was voiced by Nick Killington and Rebecca Hyland voiced rag doll, Upsy Daisy, who is best friends with Iggle Piggle.
Makka Pakka, voiced by Justyn Towler, spends all his time cleaning rocks and stones and is very rarely seen without his sponge, soap and drying cloth.
2. Colin Lotus, Stella Phelps and Bob Birch.

Answer: Is It Legal?

"Is It Legal?" is a comedy set in a solicitor's office that ran for three years from 1995. It was written by Simon Nye and aired at the same time as his classic show, "Men Behaving Badly" (1992-98).
"Is It Legal?" starred Richard Lumsden as bumbling junior partner Colin Lotus and Patrick Barlow as Bob Birch, the office manager who often has to clear up Colin's mistakes.
Winner of multiple Laurence Olivier Awards, the wonderful actress Imelda Staunton starred as Stella Phelps, the competent lawyer always held back by Colin's naivety.
3. Kieren Walker, Amy Dyer and Simon Dyer.

Answer: In The Flesh

BBC show, "In The Flesh" (2013-14) was a supernatural thriller that won a BAFTA in 2014, for Best Mini Series. The show told the story of life in UK after a period when dead people had suddenly came back to life en masse as zombies.
Kieren Walker, a formerly rabid but now rehabilitated zombie was played by Luke Newberry, while his love interest, Simon Dyer was played by Emmett J Scanlan. Simon is also one of the twelve disciples of the Undead Prophet, which complicates their relationship.
Believed to be the first dead person to have come back to life, Amy Dyer was played by Emily Bevan.
4. Battery Sergeant Major Tudor Bryn Williams, Bombardier "Gloria" Beaumont and Gunner "Lofty" Harold Horace Herbert Willy Sugden.

Answer: It Ain't Half Hot Mum

Set in India during WWII, "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" was a huge hit for the BBC when first shown between 1974 and 1981, but is nowadays viewed as bordering on homophobic, racist and indulging in imperialism.
The cast of the show portrayed a Royal Artillery concert party waiting to be deployed to the front lines and starred Windsor Davies as Battery Sergeant Major Williams, who along with Gunner "Lofty" Sugden had a UK number one single with "Whispering Grass" in 1975.
Melvyn Hayes played the effeminate Bombardier Beaumont who with his passion for dressing as female film stars was always referred to as "Gloria" by the rest of the boys.
5. Mrs Hollingbery, Winston and Alf Garnett.

Answer: In Sickness And In Health

"In Sickness And In Health" (1985-92) was a sequel to "Till Death Us Do Part" (1966-75) which was cancelled in part due to viewer complaints about racism and a number of court cases involving libel or blasphemy or both.
Luckily for the BBC, "In Sickness And In Health" was not as controversial, although the racism and homophobia was never too far away as Alf Garnett, played by Warren Mitchell was given Winston (Eamonn Walker) a live in home help by the council who was both gay and black and referred to as Marigold by Alf.
Carmel McSharry played Alf's neighbour Mrs Hollingbery, who could often be found sat with Alf in front of the TV, drinking stout.
6. Jones the Steam, Dai Station and Mrs Porty.

Answer: Ivor The Engine

The original "Ivor The Engine" aired in 1959, but it is the later series that ran from 1975 to 1977 which I remember.
Ivor was a steam train who worked "in the top left hand corner of Wales", whose ambition in life is to sing with the local choir. The series recounted his adventures and the steps he took to fulfil his dream, assisted by driver, Jones the Steam and station master, Dai Station.
Other well remembered characters from the show include Evans the Song, the choirmaster and signalman Owen the Signal along with local aristocrat and lover of port wine, Mrs Porty and Idris the Dragon who was hatched from an egg in Ivor's fire.
The voices for all of the characters in the show were provided by Anthony Jackson, Oliver Postgate and Olwen Griffiths.
7. Moz, Nicki and Cartoon Head.

Answer: Ideal

Johnny Vegas starred as cannabis dealer Moz with Nicola Reynolds as his girlfriend Nicki in this dark comedy that ran for seven seasons between 2005 and 2011 on BBC.
Cartoon Head, played by David Sant from season two onwards is a hitman as well as being Moz's best customer. He never speaks on the show, but it is revealed that his mask was superglued to his face by his boss after a disagreement.
8. Cynthia Coffin, Aafrin Dalal and Ralph Whelan.

Answer: Indian Summers

"Indian Summers" (2015-16) is a C4 drama set in the 1930s about the British Raj in the Himalayan foothills of India. Nikesh Patel starred as Aafrin Dalal, a young Indian civil servant who works for Ralph Whelan played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Ralph is private secretary to Lord Willingdon, Viceroy of India, who is encouraged by his step mother, Cynthia Coffin, played by the brilliant Julie Walters to step into Willingdon's role when he retires.
Although the show was loved by critics and praised for its realism, viewing figures dropped off after the first few episodes and the show was cancelled after just two of the planned five seasons.
9. Philip Masterson-Bowie, Winona Matthews and Claire Franchetti.

Answer: I Am Not An Animal

"I Am Not An Animal" (2004) is a great, but very dark comedy about a group of animals rescued from a vivisectionist laboratory. Unfortunately, they are not actually rescued but duped into taking part in an experiment which involves living a life of luxury where every whim is catered for by a computer.
Steve Coogan provided the voice for horse, Philip Masterson-Bowie and pit bull, Winona Matthews was voiced by Amelia Bullmore.
Other characters included Claire Franchetti a rat voiced by Julia Davis along with Hugh Gape, a monkey, a cat called Kieron and a rabbit called Niall.
10. Robbie Lewis, Chief Superintendent Strange and Max DeBryn.

Answer: Inspector Morse

"Inspector Morse" (1987-2000) is quite rightly described as a jewel in the crown of UK TV, with its wonderful scripts based on the novels by Colin Dexter and superb acting from the late John Thaw in the title role.
Assisting Morse with some very complicated cases was Detective Sergeant Robbie Lewis, played by Kevin Whately and both report to Chief Superintendent Strange, played by James Grout, an officer with whom Morse's relationship can be turbulent at times.
Peter Woodthorpe played Dr Max DeBryn, the pathologist in the first two seasons whose insights often assist Morse in solving the case.
