Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dick Dastardly and Muttley
Answer: The Mean Machine
Driving a rocket-powered car packed with an array of weapons, Dick Dastardly and Muttley were the villains of the series. They would subsequently appear in their own spin-off series "Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines", in which they would attempt to prevent (unsuccessfully) the bugle blowing Yankee Doodle Pigeon from completing his missions.
2. Professor Pat Pending
Answer: The Convert-a-Car
A mad scientist with a car that he could be changed in to almost anything when the need arose.
3. The Gruesome Twosome
Answer: The Creepy Coupe
The Gruesome Twosome were the monsters Big Gruesome and Little Gruesome, who spoke like Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre respectively.
4. Peter Perfect
Answer: The Turbo Terrific
The car was a somewhat unreliable drag racer. Peter Perfect would often stop to help out Penelope Pitstop when she got into difficulties as he had a crush on her.
5. The Ant Hill Mob
Answer: The Bullet-Proof Bomb
The Ant Hill Mob were 1920s gangsters made up of Clyde (the leader) along with Danny, Kurby, Mac, Ring-A-Ding, Rug Bug Benny and Willy. Clyde would also feature in the spin-off series "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" (albeit with a different car and gang members).
6. Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly
Answer: The Army Surplus Special
As their names suggest, they were soldiers and drove a converted tank.
7. Rufus Ruffcut and Sawtooth
Answer: The Buzz Wagon
This team were a lumberjack (Rufus Ruffcut) and a beaver (Sawtooth), and their car had buzzsaw blades for wheels.
8. The Slag Brothers
Answer: The Boulder Mobile
The slag brothers were Rock and Gravel Slag. They were hair-covered cavemen (a sort of cross between the "Flintstones" and Cousin It from "The Addams Family"), and their car was a boulder with wheels.
9. Luke and Blubber Bear
Answer: The Arkansas Chuggabug
Luke was a hillbilly and his partner was a very nervous bear. The car was made of wood and powered by a coal-fired stove.
10. Penelope Pitstop
Answer: The Compact Pussycat
Penelope Pitstop would reappear in the spin-off series "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop". She was joined by a reformed Ant Hill Mob (actually leader Clyde with a new gang) who would assist her in her adventures.
