For this story, Brooke was seen with giving plenty of updates and coverage on the events unfolding at the trial. She once asked Daisy's attorney if he felt she had a motive for killing Zach but he responded she was psychologically incapable of murder. Daisy was tried for Zach's murder.

The trial over Zach's murder took its toll on Nina psychologically since she was involved with Zach and had to face the facts her mother might have killed him. Cliff, Nina's soulmate, noticed how she started to spiral downward and stated on multiple occasions that she needed professional help. Nina needing psychiatric help became truly apparent when she attempted to kill Donna Beck on her wedding day since she believed Donna was responsible for Daisy's unhappiness.

One part of the story took a turn in a very important scene that involved an exchange between Cliff Warner and Ross Cortlandt. While Linda was not a primary suspect in his murder, her scheming with him connected her to his trial. Oscar nominated actress Melissa Leo portrayed Linda Warner.

While the name of the prison where she went was not mentioned a lot, there was a scene where Palmer discussed Daisy's appeal and Nina mentioned the name of the prison as being Covington. Daisy did not serve a long time in prison, as new information came to light right away and revealed Zach's true killer.

While Cliff was not experienced in hypnosis or any other medical technique to help bring back memories, he did want to help Donna remember more about the night Zach was murdered. He was seen in many scenes with Donna trying to find certain ways in which to get her to recover some memories she had blocked out.

One pivotal scene during the story surrounded Phoebe having Brooke English, Langley Wallingford, Marian Colby, Benny Sago, Donna Beck, and Cliff Warner come here her confess to something. Langley tried to stop her and assure Phoebe she had some alcohol but Phoebe assured everyone she was sober. Marian insisted to Phoebe that Langley was correct and she should not say anything. Brooke asked Phoebe what the problem was so Phoebe mentioned she was in Zach's apartment the night he was murdered.

There was one important scene in the story where Nina went to the DA's office and wanted to give him a piece of her mind. She stated to him that her mother's life was now ruined thanks to his convicting the wrong person but he told her he was only doing his job. Nina reminded him how Cliff came up with some new leads and that he should reopen the case but he said that was not possible at that time.

Nina went to Myra one day and had a bag packed so Myra asked her what was up. Nina just simply told her she could not take all the stress and anguish she had suffered through Zach's trial, especially with her mother being convicted, and she wanted to leave town. Nina felt this was her only choice and she informed Myra she had to do what she had to do. Myra told her to take a minute and think about her decision but Nina responded she had thought it through and would not change her mind.
