Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Group 935?

Answer: A scientific research group devoted to the creation of Wonder Weapons

Group 935's motto is "to improve the human condition." In spite of this, their status as protagonists or antagonists can be debated between the split personality of Dr Richtofen as he is impacted by his travels throughout space and time and the ambigiuity of the character that is Dr Ludvig Maxis, the leader of Group 935.

As such, until "Black Ops 4" their trope is rather unclear, until they seem to shift more towards being good guys in the aforementioned game. The Der Riese facility is located in Breslau, Germany, and all throughout the player's time on this map, they are exposed to various 935 creations, such as the Electro Shock Traps, the 115 Teleporters, potentially the Wunderwaffe DG 2 and in "Black Ops 3", the Annihilator.
2. Perk machines had been a thing for the previous two and now a third map here in Der Riese. However, Der Riese now introduced the Pack-a-Punch machine. What did this machine do in its debut?

Answer: Significantly upgrade weapons

Any weapon placed inside the machine, would shortly thereafter be returned with a new catchy name, and all-around improved functions. Therefore, surviving to higher rounds than usual was now significantly more doable. In later iterations of Zombies, a PaPed weapon could be re-PaPed to gain more useful attributes and, in "Black Ops 4", more damage along with new attributes.
3. 115 Teleporters were a new addition to this map. Obviously they teleport a player who uses them, but where does the player end up if they use them normally?

Answer: Launch pad in spawn room

If these teleporters seem more ambiguous than simply warping the player to a single spot, it's because they are. One thing consistent about them is that they always send the player(s) inside the teleporter to the launch pad in spawn. However, there are three other things teleporters can do. First, they are a necessary function in order to unlock Pack-a-Punch; each must be triggered upon reaching them, and the player must trigger the launch pad within thirty seconds of triggering the teleporter. After doing this to all three teleporters, Pack-a-Punch is unlocked.

The second function teleporters have is that any zombies caught inside the teleporter upon triggering it will be killed. This can cause them to be a useful bail-out option incase the player is at risk of being overwhelmed and killed by zombies.

The third function is probably the trickiest one to reach and one many players probably don't know about. If a player throws a Cymbal Monkey into a teleporter, and then immediately triggers it, the launch control machine next to the launch pad will be unlocked. Going to this machine and hitting the green button has different effects depending on what game you're playing.

In "World at War" this will grant the player all four perks in the game for free. In "Black Ops" and "Black Ops 3" this will spawn a random selection of the Deadshot Daiquiri or Stamin-Up perk on the map, granting players access to this perk for the remainder of the game.
4. In "World at War" one objective aside from simply surviving against waves of undead is 'play her game' without any added context or explanation. What does this mean?

Answer: Play hide and seek with Samantha Maxis

This was the first 'Easter Egg' in young Zombies history. It simply involved the player obtaining a Pack a Punched weapon and shooting two Teddy Bears and one Monkey Bomb hidden around the map. We truly get introduced to Samantha here. The little girl seems all too excited when we manage to 'find' the first two toys, but upon finding the third, Samantha's demonic 'GAME OVER!' booms through our ears. Completing this Easter Egg also grants the player(s) one of every powerup in the game, along with a free set of Cymbal Monkeys they may take from the garage furnace.

In "Black Ops 3" this Easter Egg is a little different; the objects are in different places, and it's a much calmer, more benevolent voice of Dr Maxis we hear, as he speaks of the need to 'ensure a brighter future for the children' once the player finds all three objects.
5. To this very day, and surprisingly making a return to remade versions of the map in "Black Ops" and "Black Ops 3", if the player(s) execute a certain strategy, they can cause all the zombies on the map to only attack one barricade. What must happen in order to trigger this phenomenon?

Answer: Everyone must enter the top floor of the garage, stay inside the room, and not open the door to the laboratory on this floor

It is unknown to this day whether or not this is a glitch, but logically it can be assumed to be one. Given that this cannot happen in any other room or barricade except for this one, it is likely a glitch. However, if it truly was a glitch, Treyarch would likely have (A) Acknowledged it and/or (B) Simply patched it out due to its strange nature. Neither have happened however, meaning it cannot be concluded to be a glitch, only assumed to be one.

However you label this sequence of events, if every player on the map is inside this room, with the laboratory debris uncleared, every single zombie which spawns thereafter (and every single Hellhound) will only do so within that room.

While this would seem like a golden method to practically live forever, with all zombies only coming through one area, clearly visible, in practice utilizing this strategy can be difficult. One of the teleporters needed to unlock Pack-a-Punch is locked behind the debris that must be kept closed in order for this phenomenon to work. Because of this, players looking to utilize this strategy must be at peace with not having any Pack-a-Punched weapons. Even then, at a certain point, zombies will begin to resist the players' progressively weakening weapons and will eventually overwhelm the player(s) and break through the barrier, entering the room.

In "Black Ops 3" Gobblegum can be used to obtain Pack-a-Punched weapons. Predictably, teams of players with the correct Gobblegum have documented runs to Round 255 (the maximum round possible in that game) by using this strategy.
6. Elena Siegman and Kevin Sherwood are back at it again, with "Beauty of Annihilation" as a potential song the player can unlock. How does the player(s) unlock and obtain the privilege of listening to this excellent track?

Answer: Finding three Brains inside test tubes around the map

Two of the brains can be founded practically right next to each other; they are found in the first room east of spawn, with one being right in front of the spiral staircase leading to the next buyable debris and the other found about ten feet in front of the first brain, on top of a shelf.

The third brain is found inside the garage laboratory, next to the Stielhandgranate wallbuy. Simply holding down the reload button when next to them and facing them to 'pick them up' will trigger this excellent song one time per game.
7. What happens when a player throws a Cymbal Monkey into the furnace?

Answer: The likelihood of powerups dropping increases greatly for a short time

Upon doing this, the Cymbal Monkey, usually proceeding to play music and drawing all zombies to it, will instead begin to short out and seem to sob as it melts. After it melts, the player(s) will hear Samantha Maxis shout "Why are you so cruel to Mister Monkey? Mister Monkey just wanted to play!" After this, the drop rate of powerups, including Max Ammo, increases greatly. Players desperate for a particular powerup can use this strategy as many times as they want as a desperation ploy to gain a powerup, usually Max Ammo.
8. What characters can a team of players play as?

Answer: Tank Dempsey, Edward Richtofen, Nikolai Belinski and Takeo Masaki

The Ultimis crew returns in this one. Richtofen's goal seems to be to utilize one of the 115 teleporters to travel to the Moon to confront Samantha Maxis, but there is no way for the players to actually realize this plan.
9. Illuminati Codes can be found in various places on the map, depicting specific messages. Which of the following is NOT one of them?

Answer: The Beacon is lit

These are simply silly Easter eggs without any tangible benefits for finding. They are found on random wooden boards across the map, possibly as barricades on windows. They can only be found in the "World at War" Der Riese, not the "Black Ops" or "Black Ops 3" remakes.
10. The player gets ten points for rebuilding a single barrier or damaging a zombie. 60 points are awarded for killing a zombie, 100 if this is done via headshot and 130 if done via melee kill. Carpenter and Nuke powerups also grant 200 and 400 points, respectively, after being triggered. New to Der Riese was a way of obtaining 25 points, and this became the only way to have your point total end with a 5 instead of a 0. How could a player achieve this?

Answer: Going prone over a perk machine

Doing this grants a one-time 25 point boost to the player's point total. It is meant to reflect the fact that the player picks up a quarter while searching the vending machine that is a Perk Machine while on the ground. It can be triggered once per game. This amount was increased to 100 points in "Black Ops 3" and "Black Ops 4".
