Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nacht Der Untoten was located in an abandoned German stronghold, while Verruckt was at an asylum. Where is Shi No Numa based?

Answer: The Rising Sun Facility in Japan

Canonically, the team has headed to Division 9's facility in Japan AFTER coming over from Group 935's headquarters in Germany, which would later be where the Der Reise map would be based around. It is unknown why Treyarch decided to make Shi No Numa before Der Reise, but they did.
2. Up to this point, "Nazi" Zombies had been what the player had been tasked with holding out and surviving against. What was the difference in Zombies in Shi No Numa?

Answer: They were Japanese

The zombies on this map can clearly be seen wearing Imperial Japanese Army uniforms that, in real life, were worn by the Japanese during World War II, which is the time era in which this map has been based in. They do not experience a change in properties based on the new nationality, and this change ultimately ended up being merely aesthetic, to better accommodate the context of now being in Japan instead of Germany.
3. Where Nacht Der Untoten and Verruckt featured around-the-clock zombie slaying, in Shi No Numa, the zombies obtained a new ally. What new creature lended a hand to aid the undead in this map?

Answer: Hellhounds

Hellhounds would initially spawn in between Round 5 and 7. After that, every handful of rounds there would be a round where solely Hellhounds would appear. In these rounds, after the last Hellhound was killed, it would spawn a max ammo powerup that the team could pick up.

After Round 15, Hellhounds could now spawn alongside zombies in ordinary rounds. They would not automatically drop any powerup if spawned in this capacity. Hellhounds were significantly weaker than zombies, not dealing as much damage as zombies and being significantly frailer than them (they did not gain more durable as rounds passed after Round 15) but they were a lot faster than zombies.

However, if a player was in possession of Juggernog, Hellhounds would ordinarily be easy to dispose of, and rounds where strictly Hellhounds spawned would be viewed as "free" rounds, since these rounds always regenerated the player's ammo, never required much usage of said ammo, and thus allowed more reckless and aggressive style of play.
4. Who are the characters the player can play as on this map?

Answer: Richtofen, Takeo, Dempsey and Nikolai

This map would be the first map where the entire crew, donned "Ultimis" would be introduced. Dempsey was a playable character in Verruckt alongside three other unidentified marines. Dempsey is an American marine. Nikolai was a member of the Red Army before being captured in a conflict with the Nazis. Takeo's specific military ranking is unknown, but he is known to be a servant of the Japanese emperor, who is unidentified. Richtofen, commonly thought to be the primary protagonist of the Ultimis crew, is a German scientist, a key member of Group 935, and the man who somehow seems to know everything the Ultimis crew has to do to survive. Canonically, Richtofen had tested his experimental teleporter in the Der Reise facility on his newly found three comrades.

It ultimately wiped their memories of himself, which would cause them to forget he had essentially captured them and used them as test subjects. This, combined with the uncertainty of being in a zombie apocalypse, would cause the three to be persuaded into teaming up with Richtofen to try to save the world from the apocalypse.
5. What is the main objective in Shi No Numa?

Answer: Recover Richtofen's diary

Peter McCain is the name of the man who tried to rescue Dempsey and his team of marines from Verruckt, but was killed by zombies trying to do so. Canonically, Richtofen's diary had some crucial information in it that Richtofen 2.0 wrote to try to prevent his 1.0 self from going insane and ultimately killing Dr Maxis and trapping Samantha Maxis' soul in the Crazy Place.

Unfortunately, Ultimis would fail to locate his diary, and Richtofen would later go on to do exactly all of that.
6. The duo of singer Elena Siegman and musician Kevin Sherwood (and to this day, continue to) created some amazing music for the player to enjoy on Nacht Der Untoten and Verruckt, and they were right back with more in Shi No Numa. If the player had a watchful eye, they could trigger a one time Easter Egg which would cause "The One" to play. What did the player have to do to get this song to play?

Answer: Use the phone in the Comm room

On console, "using" the phone simply encompassed the player holding down the reload button three times, listening to the phone as it selected 1-1-5 and called the number. After calling the number, if the player stayed close to the phone, they would be able to hear Elena Siegman whisper "I know when you're sleeping" as a reference to "Lullaby of a Dead man", which was the Easter Egg song on Verruckt.

After whispering this line, "The One" would play. Fantastic instrumentals from Kevin Sherwood backed up amazing lyrics from the talented Elena Siegman, and the player would be treated to the incredible tune while slaying zombies.
7. Verruckt introduced the concept of zombie traps which returned in Shi No Numa. In a mucky, bogged-down swamp with thick bodies of water making travel in some places difficult, Shi No Numa introduced another new buyable utility. What was this utility?

Answer: Zipline

The zipline, found at the Infirmary and Doctor's Quarters, was used to help get the player over the bogged up lake that severely hindered player movement. It cost 500 points to use, but had a moderate recharge time in between usages.
8. In Verruckt, turning on the power was a huge deal. How did the player turn on power here in Shi No Numa?

Answer: None of these

Unlike Verruckt, power on this map is automatically on! Perk machines can immediately be accessed, traps can be used, and the zipline is available immediately as a result.
9. With power turned on, Perk machines are now accessible. What is the difference between Perk machines in Shi No Numa and Perk machines in Verruckt?

Answer: Perk Machines spawn in random locations

The minor catch to this is that a player can walk up to the buyable door giving access to the Perk machine, sit by the door, and wait for a song according with the perk machine to play. This can be how a player determines which machine is in the room before spending their hard earned cash on buying the door. Still, the Perk Machines appears in random buildings, making the game more of a wild card than Verruckt.
10. The Ray Gun would return to Shi No Numa, but it was no longer alone as far as Wonder Weapons go. What was the new Wonder Weapon on Shi No Numa?

Answer: Wunderwaffe DG2

The Wunderwaffe DG2 came with 4 round clips, a total of 12 rounds. Each blast would instantly kill zombies in a moderately sized arc, with a blast of electricity, regardless of what round it was. The weapon was manufactured at the Der Reise Group 935 factory, using the element 115 to craft the electricity from the weapon.
