Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When you first play 'Fate/Grand Order', your starter Servant is Mash Kyrielight. To which class does she belong?

Answer: Shielder

Mash Kyrielight is a free Servant, and her class is Shielder. She starts out as a three-star Servant, but can be upgraded to a four-star once you've cleared the Camelot singularity. Her role is entirely defensive and as her name suggests, she carries a massive shield. It is revealed during the game that Lancelot is her father.

Mash sacrifices herself to save the party, but is resurrected after Fou, Chaldea's cute little mascot (and the fourth Beast!), sacrifices its intelligence to save her, and becomes an ordinary animal. In Part 2, 'Cosmos in the Lostbelt', she gains the Ortenaus outfit.
2. What is the in-game currency used in 'Fate/Grand Order'?

Answer: Saint Quartz

Saint Quartz is the in-game currency used to buy Servants or Craft Essences, which are special cards equipped by Servants. Craft Essences can give Servants special effects. Each Servant has a personal Craft Essence with something related to them (such as Heracles' memories of his former Master Illya von Einzbern's castle, or Ushiwakamaru's sword Usumidori). Each pull of the gacha (a kind of virtual vending machine) costs three Saint Quartz. They can either be bought with actual money, or obtained by completing daily quests, bonding with Servants up to a certain level or as a reward for finishing a chapter.

Another type of currency is the Mana Prism, a rare currency that can be gained by burning three-star cards or completing certain daily event quests. They can be used to purchase items from the game's shop. The Rare Prism can also be obtained by burning rarer (i.e. four or five-star Servants).
3. Which historical figure, a member of the Caster class, is the in-game shopkeeper?

Answer: Leonardo da Vinci

Though Medea, Hans Christian Andersen and Mephistopheles are all Casters, Leonardo da Vinci is the one in charge of the shop that sells various items. Like many other characters in the 'Fate' series, including poster girl Artoria Pendragon, Leonardo da Vinci has been genderbent, and is now a woman, with an appearance based on the 'Mona Lisa'. As a Servant, she is a five-star, and the third Servant to be summoned by Chaldea. She works closely with Dr Roman Archman, the head of the Medical Department, who later takes over the leadership of the Chaldea Security Organisation.

Da Vinci is killed by the evil priest Kirei Kotomine in 'Cosmos in the Lostbelt', but survives due to having a backup body, though she has no memories.
4. Which class is exclusive to 'Fate/Grand Order', and includes the characters Katsushika Hokusai and Abigail Williams?

Answer: Foreigner

The Foreigner class is the first class to be exclusive to the world of 'Fate/Grand Order', and is one of the Extra classes, along with Avenger, Ruler, Moon Cancer and Alter Ego. They are associated with Outer Gods, having made contact with them without having been consumed by them, and are basically eldritch abominations, who are considered threats to humanity. They deal extra damage to Berserkers. Hokusai is a composite Servant, consisting of both the artist himself (who is a little black octopus!) and his daughter Ou'i, while Abigail Williams is based on the historical figure, but with a Lovecraftian twist.

The Avenger class debuted in 'Fate/Hollow Ataraxia', the sequel to 'Fate/Stay Night'. Moon Cancer and Alter Ego are classes from 'Fate/Extra'.
5. Many female Servants have summer or 'swimsuit' forms for the annual summer event. The swimsuit versions are in different classes to the original version of the Servant. Artoria Pendragon, the female King Arthur also known as Sabre, changed to which class when she appeared in 'Chaldea Summer Memory'?

Answer: Archer

'Chaldea Summer Memory' took place in 2016 in Japan, and in 2018 in the US. As well as Artoria, now wielding a water pistol, the other summer servants included a Rider class Marie Antoinette (originally a Caster) and a Ruler class St Martha (originally a Rider). An Assassin-class Scáthach was unlocked after completing this event, as was a Mystic Code, an outfit that grants players various abilities (in this case, it was a pair of trunks or a bikini, depending on the gender of the protagonist). Players also had the opportunity to build their own island, and fight giant enemy crabs.
6. As well as summer variations of Servants, seasonal variations such as Christmas and Halloween exist. Each Christmas event has had a Servant playing the role of Santa. Which Servant, originally of the Sabre class, was the Archer class Santa for 2017 in Japan?

Answer: Altera/Attila the Hun

Attila the Hun, or Altera as she is known in game, was originally conceived for the video game 'Fate/Extella', but appeared in 'Fate/Grand Order' as a Sabre before 'Fate'Extella' actually came out. In the world of 'Fate', she is actually an alien superweapon who was found and adopted by the Huns, and became their leader.

As the Santa figure, she was nicknamed 'Altera the Sun', and was accompanied by fluffy sheep with presents hidden in their fleeces. Said sheep were used as projectiles, as not everyone in the Archer class is a literal archer - all a Servant has to do to qualify is use a projectile weapon of some sort.
7. Which character from the light novel and anime 'Fate/Apocrypha' was the limited Valentine's Day servant in Japan for 2018?

Answer: Semiramis

The legendary Assyrian queen Semiramis was originally the Assassin of Red in 'Fate/Apocrypha', and was also one of the few Servants belonging to more than one class. In 'Fate/Grand Order', she's an Assassin, and could initially only be summoned during the Japanese 2018 Valentine's Day event. She also appeared in the 'Fate/Apocrypha' event later that year, along with fellow cast members Chiron, Sieg (who was originally the protagonist), Avicebron and Achilles.

During Valentine's Day, as per Japanese tradition, you can give chocolate to your female Servants.
8. In which event was an evil Berserker version of Cu Chulainn the unlockable Servant?

Answer: North American Myth War: E Pluribus Unum

Cú Chulainn, the legendary Irish hero, was Lancer in 'Fate/Stay Night', and a younger version of him also appeared in 'Fate/Prototype'. Both of these characters were in 'Fate/Grand Order', along with a Caster version of Cú Chulainn who specialised in rune magic. The event is set in America in 1793, and involves Queen Medb summoning a twisted version of Cú Chulainn known as the Mad King, who represents her ideal man. He is also the final boss of the event.

As well as Cú Chulainn, Queen Medb (a Rider, and the main antagonist of the event), Li Shuwen (a Lancer) and Thomas Edison (a Caster) were also unlockable after completing the event. Geronimo (a Caster) was the reward Servant.
9. The second part of 'Fate/Grand Order', 'Cosmos in the Lostbelts', introduced a group of enemy Masters called Crypters, who each had their own Servant and controlled a static timeline in a different part of the world known as a Lostbelt. Chaldea's mission was to destroy these Lostbelts. In which country/region was the first Lostbelt set? (Hint: winter was a major theme.)

Answer: Russia

The first Lostbelt was set in Russia and called 'The Eternally Frozen Empire of Anastasia'. It occurred in a (literally) frozen timeline where Ivan the Terrible - the ruler of that world, who later joined the roster as a Rider class Servant - resorted to fusing with a woolly mammoth and a sabre-toothed tiger in order to stay alive.

The timeline diverged as the result of an Ice Age which killed most of the people on Earth. Eventually, most of the population of Russia died, with the survivors being merged with magical creatures to become monsters known as Yagas. One Yaga, a humanoid wolf called Patxi, becomes your ally during the event, though he dies as a result of the Lostbelt being destroyed. Kadoc, the Crypter in charge of this timeline, has Anastasia Romanova as his Servant; she is a Caster with ice powers and the ability to summon a hideous monster called Viy.

After you complete the Lostbelt, she becomes playable.
10. What do Sasaki Kojiro (Assassin), Mata Hari (Assassin), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Caster) and Arash (Archer) all have in common?

Answer: They are one-star Servants.

All of these Servants are one-stars, making them extremely easy to get, albeit not as powerful as rarer Servants. Arash is notable in that his Noble Phantasm (a Servant's special move) is essentially a suicide attack, though it helps to clear the field for your party.

While he did debut in the light novel 'Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver' (the prequel to 'Fate/Prototype'), none of the others appeared in it, and Sasaki Kojiro is in fact one of the original 'Fate/Stay Night' cast members, where he was the Assassin and Caster (Medea)'s Servant. Both Mata Hari and Mozart are exclusive to 'Fate/Grand Order'.
