Agent 47 was introduced to the gaming world in the original 'Hitman: Codename 47' that was released in 2000, originally only for PC though it would find it's way to all formats. Agent 47 comes across as a cold, distant figure, a fourth generation clone who is, in many ways, the perfect assassin.

Essentially Agent 47 is a mercenary of the highest quality and is substantially rewarded for his services. Agent 47 is rarely sent to the United States for missions, but after a carnival accident, 47 is hired to kill Joseph Clarance, who owned the amusement park at the time. Besides killing Mr. Clarance, 47 was under instructions to make sure that Mr. Clarance saw a photo of a small boy before he was killed.

Fernando Delgado is a retired Colonel from General Pinochet's intelligence service. His vineyared is a front for a cocaine laboratory. His son, Manuel Delgado, is also a target for Agent 47.

Agent 47's two targets are the lead tenor, Alvaro D'Alvade, and American Ambassador Richard Delahunt, both who are involved in prostitution rings and are to be eliminated. With the amount of tourists within the opera house, it takes lots of guile to assassinate both targets without raising suspicion.

Agent Smith, who has appeared in all Hitman games thus far, is to be rescured from the Redwood City Rehabilitation Clinic by Agent 47. Added to that, 47 is also to assassinate Lorenzo Lombardo, and there is an optional two targets with a cash reward.

Protected by FBI agents, this is a difficult mission for Agent 47 to infiltrate, as this is another character who has turned state's witness. Besides having to assassinate Mr. Sinistra, Agent 47 is also required to retrieve a piece of microfilm, that is worn by Mrs. Sinistra in a necklace.

The mission starts out with Agent 47 watching the Delivery Guy, in a red crow suit, who is carrying a suitcase of diamonds. The yellow costumes are worn by the guards at the bookstore where Mark Purayah is hiding out. He, along with Angelina Mason and Raymond Kulinsky, wear black costumes.

Besides the two designated targets, Lorne de Havilland and Chad Bingham Jr., Agent 47 does have the choice of whether eliminating a third target. Pre-mission, the identity of the assassin is unknown, but during the mission it is revealed that the assassin is a woman posing as a worker in the pleasure rooms.

The boat is a front for a drug-smuggling ring. Agent 47 is contracted to eliminate the captain, Skip Muldoon, and the Gator Gang, who are Muldoon's henchmen. Agent 47 must also steal comprimising photos of Muldoon with his niece.

Hank Leith is a member of the Blueclaw gang and son of Skip Muldoon. The mission takes place at a wedding where Hank is marrying his cousin Margeaux LeBlanc. The other target is John 'Pappy' LeBlanc. It is assumed that Margeaux is the client who wanted these two men eliminated.

'A House of Cards' takes place at the Shamal Casino, where Agent 47 has to eliminate a Saudi Sheik, his top scientist and a South African white supremacist. In 'A Dance with the Devil', the target is a CIA operative and his lover.

Agent 47 is sent to infiltrate the White House in Washington D.C to protect the President from being assassinating by eliminating Daniel Morris and Mark Parchezzi III. 'Amendment XXV' is probably the toughest mission out of all as it requires stealth to get past so many security guards to get into the Oval Office.

There are two endings for 'Hitman: Blood Money'. The story goes that Diana goes to Agent 47s hideout and injects him with poison, killing him. However, it becomes apparent that he is actually injected with fake-death serum. While lying in a hibernative state after being captured, Diana lays 47s Silverballers on his chest and kisses him with the antidote on his lips. It is up to the player then to choose the endings:
Ending number one is the antidote fails to work and Agent 47 is cremated. This involved the player not doing anything.
Ending number two is where the player can wake up Agent 47 by moving the controller and from there they have to elimate all that remain in the cremation room before escaping.

Rick Henderson interviews the former FBI head and is given many details about the works of Agent 47. However, this all comes to nought when he is eliminated by Agent 47 in the second ending for 'Requiem'.
