Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Each person within the US Marines in this game has a 'call sign' which is their identity over radio communication. What is Jason's call sign?

Answer: Mailman

Jason is the leader of the 'Mailman' squad under Camp Slayer. Meanwhile, Pencilneck is Nick's nickname for Eric behind his back, while the other two options don't come up during the game.
2. Jason is the centerpiece of what turns out to be the player's first major decision early in the game. Here, the Marines have entered a firefight with Iraqi soldiers on an Iraq farmhouse. Jason manages to push through to their defenses and cause them to fallback. During this time, Jason holds a civilian at gunpoint and tells him not to move. The civilian ultimately turns around and runs away from Jason. What choice must the player make here?

Answer: Whether or not to shoot the civilian

As the civilian flees, the game gives the player a QTE during which, the player can decide to have Jason shoot the fleeing civilian. If the player succeeds the QTE, that's simply what happens- Jason shoots and kills the civilian. If the player decides to fail the QTE, Jason will let the civilian flee safely.

The reason this is a major decision is because Salim is watching Jason the whole time as this occurs. If Jason shoots the civilian, Salim will later react coldly and with great paranoia when they meet later, believing Jason to be a reckless idiot with a gun. If, however, Jason lets the civilian flee, Salim will be more willing to work together peacefully when they meet up later. This will also have a large impact on their relationship score, so if the player wants to keep this high, they'll be best off intentionally failing the associated QTE.
3. Jason experiences a big moral dilemma late in the game as the group is at the vault. During "The Horror," Nick has the option to go as deep into the chamber he can to attach explosives to the central vampire cocoon. If he does, an over watching Jason with binoculars will see dozens of vampires and the Ancient Warrior (if alive) pursuing Nick. Coming to the conclusion that this will end up poorly, Jason has to make a big decision here. What is the decision?

Answer: Whether or not to tell Nick about the vampires after him

By this point, it is too late for Nick to retreat, as his only avenue of escape would be blocked by vampires. Since Jason is alive, he will eventually go in to try and save Nick regardless of what the player decides to do. However, if Salim is alive, he will tell Jason that there are so many vampires that Nick cannot possibly safely escape. Salim urges Jason to lie to Nick about the danger of the situation, since doing so wouldn't help Nick escape his seemingly inevitable fate, and that it would only stress him out and put his objective into jeopardy. No matter what the player does, Nick soon understands the gravity of his situation, and if the player doesn't fail any QTEs, he will survive this whether Jason warns Nick or not.

However, if Jason is not honest with Nick here, it reduces his relationship score with Nick fairly considerably, so if the player wants to avoid that, they'll need to have Jason tell Nick about the looming threat pursuing him.
4. When introduced, each main character will have two personality traits assessed to them by the game. What are Jason's two traits he begins the game with?

Answer: Confident and Intolerant

Confident likely comes from Jason's position of authority in the Marines, acquired by how he conducts himself- he is a strong leader who is well coordinated and handles himself and his subordinates on the battlefield quite well. Intolerant is equally easy to identify- Jason has a large hatred for the people of Iraq, which the player can build on by taking actions such as killing multiple Iraqi civilians, destroying their possessions during "The Raid" and being as hostile as possible towards Salim and Commander Dar when met in the underworld.
5. Jason is tied to one in-game achievement, "Semper Fi." In order to gain this trophy, Jason must venture into the Vault to rescue another character whom is fighting off vampires alone during this sequence. Which character must Jason save?

Answer: Salim

The player does have the option to hold Jason back and have him flee for the elevator- this does not necessarily condemn Salim to death, but it does make his survival harder to secure than if Jason was to go and save him. Here, the two fight off vampires and successfully make it to the elevator, provided that the player succeeds in their QTEs. If Jason goes for the elevator and then takes the elevator without waiting for Salim, this is where Salim is doomed to die- he will make it to the elevator, only to kneel in prayer as he sees it raising away from him in a corner as vampires close in and finish him off.
6. Early in the game, Jason and Eric have a discussion where Jason asks if Eric believes in God. Eric does not, but does Jason?

Answer: Yes

Jason encourages Eric to 'start believing' as he warns Eric of the creatures he briefly spotted, later known as vampires. Jason, along with Nick, also have the option later in the game to attack the Ancient Warrior with a crucifix, indicating that they are both quite religious.
7. Jason initially tells Salim that he decided to join the Marines to honor the dead of 9/11. This later turns out to be a lie. What is the real reason Jason joined the Marines?

Answer: To turn his life around

Jason further goes on to state that he was 'stoned out of his mind' during 9/11 and did not even realize it took place until a week after it happened. Jason tells Salim that he was extremely poor and did poorly in school, so he 'jumped at the chance' to sign up for the Marines.
8. When the trio of Jason, Eric and Nick get a break as they setup camp at the temple, Jason will make a remark towards Nick that was meant to call the player's attention to Nick's ongoing affair with Rachel. What does Jason say to cause this?

Answer: "Those things'll kill you, Sergeant"

Jason says this in reference to Nick reaching for a cigarette carton. The reason this is important is that Nick turns out not to have a lighter to light his smokes- a lighter which Rachel had earlier that Eric clearly noticed. Once this takes place, the game will inform the player that Eric has figured out Nick has an affair ongoing with Rachel, his wife.
9. Jason is the only character who can experience a death after the events of this video game. How does he die?

Answer: He turns into a vampire

As they venture into the vault, Salim and Jason could potentially find a cocooned vampire. If they choose to interact with it, it will fall apart- as it does so, the player gets a QTE with Salim where he must pull Jason backward to stop the cocoon from falling on him. If the player fails this QTE, the cocoon falls on top of Jason.

He coughs and chokes before Salim pulls him up- little did anyone know that Jason accidentally inhaled the germs of this creature. As the game ends, he will be seen violently coughing much like Clarice, potentially Rachel and potentially Eric did before they turned themselves.

As the player meets the Curator for the final time, he will blow out a candle before he begins speaking- if this is done after the story is over, it is because Jason has died as a result.
10. If he survives the events of the game, a pair of US Interrogators will be asking Jason questions during the epilogue, one of which touches base on his willingness to work together with 'the enemy', who in this case is the Iraqi soldier Salim. Jason will get very animate with them during this, and he will simultaneously praise Salim and insult his interrogators as he answers this question. What exactly does Jason say?

Answer: "One of him is worth five of you!"

It is here where we truly see Jason's character development round into form- he began the game hating Iraqis as a whole with extreme prejudice, and he ends it speaking in defense of an Iraqi soldier as if he was his blood brother. As such, his passionate defense of Salim was an exclamatory way to end the game for Jason.
