Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the eccentric and somewhat creepy professor who aids Luigi throughout the game?

Answer: E. Gadd

The professor is a great resource because of the many gadgets and areas he provides Luigi with. The Poltergust 3000, GameBoy Horror and Boo Radar are just a few examples of the great many devices E. Gadd will provide for Luigi. In addition, his house contains a Ghost Portificationizer, a training room and a ghost gallery that will fill up as the game progresses.
2. What is the name of the vacuum device Luigi wears on his back and uses to suck up ghosts throughout the mansion?

Answer: Poltergust 3000

The Poltergust 3000 comes in handy all through the game. It can be used to suck up ghosts, spray elements out and can become a tool to reach many difficult places such as chandeliers or curtains that would otherwise be out of Luigi's reach. The "R" button will allow Luigi to suck up many pesky ghosts but it's usually a good idea to stun them with his flashlight first.
3. Which of the following is NOT an actual type of element that can be found in the game?

Answer: Earth element

Fire element ghosts are usually found in the flames of torches or candles. Water element ghosts like to hide out in kitchen or bathroom sinks as well as showers and baths around the mansion. Ice element ghosts are located mainly in ice buckets, freezers, or frozen objects littered throughout the mansion. By pressing the "L" button, Luigi can release a burst of whatever element he currently has.

However, eventually that element will run out and Luigi must suck up another element ghost before he can spray more than a few feeble fumes.
4. Aside from the Diamond and Gold Diamond, what gemstone is the most valuable in the entire game?

Answer: Giant Pearl & Ruby

Giant Pearls will bring in a whopping $1,000,000 each, as will a Ruby. A Sapphire is worth just $500,000 and an Emerald, in turn, can be turned in for a lavish $800,000. Other valuables that can be found in the game include gold diamonds (aka Topaz), diamonds, the giant ruby, medium pearls, small pearls, bills, coins and gold bars. Each item varies in price.
5. Luigi has come to the mansion to meet up with his brother Mario. Why is it that Luigi selected this mansion as a meeting point with his brother?

Answer: He recently won it in the lottery.

After winning a mysterious mansion in the lottery Mario arrived at the mansion only to find that the ghosts there had been expecting him. Before being able to meet with his brother, the unsuspecting plumber is ambushed. It's up to Luigi to star in the game as well as rescue this Nintendo legend from the clutches of King Boo and the other ghosts in the mansion.
6. When in first-person view mode, what part of a special ghost can be examined to find his/her/its weakness?

Answer: Heart

By pressing the "X" button during gameplay, you can bring up the first-person view mode. From here, Luigi can take a look around the room he's in. Now, by pressing "A" when targeting the heart of a nearby ghost, Luigi can gain access to a little hint that will almost certainly help him capture that ghost.
7. What classic Nintendo character can Luigi use as to save the game by finding him/her around the mansion?

Answer: Toad

By talking with Toad wherever he is found during the game, Luigi can save his progress up until that point. Furthermore, Toad will sometimes give a clue about the location of an important object that might be nearby. A little compassion can go a long way in getting some tips as to where keys, etc. might be hidden. Luigi can also save when speaking with the professor after capturing one of the 50 Boos roaming around the mansion.
8. Which of the following is NOT a lost item dropped by Mario somewhere around the mansion?

Answer: Overalls

Losing his overalls would have been a real disaster for Mario. Fortunately, when he is found by Luigi at the end of the game, Mario is decently clothed in overalls and a shirt. The five items of his that CAN be found be Luigi scattered around the mansion are Mario's Star, Mario's Letter, Mario's Hat, Mario's Glove and Mario's Shoe.
9. The professor is a fairly major character in "Luigi's Mansion", but many of his personal details are hardly mentioned. What is the professor's first name?

Answer: Elvin

Have a look in the "Luigi's Mansion" Instruction Booklet and you will find that the real name of the professor who, in the game itself, is known simply as E. Gadd, is Elvin. An unusual name for a unusual old man.
10. As well as being a prominent figure in the game "Luigi's Mansion", E. Gadd also pops up elsewhere in Nintendo releases. Which of the following Mario Bros. games pays homage to this great inventor?

Answer: Super Mario Sunshine

For those of you out there who have played the game "Super Mario Sunshine" for Nintendo Gamecube, you will no doubt be familiar with FLUDD (Flash Liquid Ultra Dousing Device), which Mario wears around on his back. Sounds a little familiar? Just as Luigi has his Poltergust 3000, this water-spraying gadget is the invention of Gadd's that aids Mario.
