Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The countdown sequence for starting the race returns but with a slight change. What is the change for this installment?

Answer: Spin-fade

The three second countdown sequence from "Mario Kart Wii" returns for "Mario Kart 7" and this time, it adds a spin-fade effect from "Mario Kart DS". Same sequence, different changes. Don't forget to do a rocket start when a race begins.
2. There are two camera modes in this installment for races. Which mode is introduced for the first time?

Answer: First-person

The new First-person mode gives you a better look of the tracks for the first time in "Mario Kart 7". To enable it, just press up on the D-pad to access it.
3. Coins play a major role in this game. How many coins can each kart get during the race to raise the speed?

Answer: Ten

To help the kart speed up during the race, they need coins. Players can carry up to ten coins in each track and they are the keys to unlocking new kart parts. How you earn them depends on how many coins the player has collected during the game.
4. How many separate laps do the Wuhu Loop tracks have?

Answer: None

Because of the large size, the Wuhu Loops are divided into sections. Each section has a star banner to represent where the next part starts. To finish the track, the player must complete all three sections.
5. There are seventeen playable characters in the game. Which character can feature twice in a race?

Answer: Lakitu

If you love the white cloud, then you'll love Lakitu! Lakitu is not only the game's referee, but he is also a playable racer in this installment!
6. How many racetracks are there in total?

Answer: Thirty-two

All of the tracks in this game are divided into two Grand Prix types - the "Mario Kart 7" tracks and the Retro tracks from previous games. Each track has its own perks and shortcuts and it's up to you to find them.
7. Items are another good element in this game. Which new item allows the racer to use many items at once?

Answer: Lucky Seven

Because the game is "Mario Kart 7", this new item uses not one, but seven items! That means you'll have seven chances to take the lead!
8. After every race in the Grand Prix, how many points does the winner receive at the finish line?

Answer: Ten

In the past games, players received no points for finishing in last place but for this installment, everyone is a winner in the Grand Prix. Collect the most points after all four races and the trophy is yours!
9. The Award Ceremony fanfare is the same as the one in which previous game?

Answer: Mario Kart Wii

The fanfare for winning the GP is the same as the one in "Mario Kart Wii" except that the first part of the fanfare is played this time. It means that you're ready to claim your trophy.
10. The last track of the game is always Rainbow Road. How many Rainbow Roads appear in the game?

Answer: Two

For this installment, the final track of "Super Mario Kart" returns as the final track of the Lightning Cup along with the new version with three sections in the Special Cup. You'll love this final track in the past and present, so get racing!
