Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many new Pokemon were introduced in these two games?

Answer: 156

With the introduction of "Pokemon Black/White" came 156 completely new Pokemon with new and unique stat and type combinations (not to mention new abilities) and its own set of legendary Pokemon. Unova's setting makes it that it is isolated from the other regions and the people there are oblivious of them. You will not see a single Pokemon from the previous generations until you get the national pokedex.
2. Which of these Pokemon is the heaviest?

Answer: Groudon

Groudon weighs a record breaking 2,094 lbs, more than double of Snorlax! Snorlax is not even the second heaviest, also being surpassed by Dialga, Giratina O, Giratina A, and Metagross. Snorlax has dropped from being the worlds heaviest to the 6th heaviest Pokemon. What a downgrade!
3. A Garchomp with 31 IVs and 0 EVs for both defence and HP will always survive an Ice Shard from Mamoswine.

Answer: True

In the previous generation, Garchomp's momentum has always been halted by the dreaded Ice Shard which Mamoswine (the most powerful Ice Shard user) and Weavile both possess along with their high attack stat. But now Garchomp is capable of taking the full blast of Ice Shard from the most powerful unbuffed Mamoswine you could ever have. All Pokemon have been made sturdier and can survive more easily compared to the previous games, "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver".

But don't expect a Pikachu to take on an Earthquake head on and live to tell the tale.
4. Of the new Pokemon introduced in "Black/White", which non-legendary Pokemon possesses the highest attack stat?

Answer: Haxorus

Haxorus possesses 147 base attack, greater than any non-legendary Pokemon in the new generation. If you count all Pokemon on the other hand, Rampardos is the highest with 165 attack. Although it has incredible attack, its mediocre speed and low defensive stats often make it a letdown in battle.

But let it set up a Dragon Dance and you will see it sweep through entire teams like the monster he is.
5. What new ability did Charizard get in these games that has upgraded him to a top level threat in battle?

Answer: Solar Power

Charizard has become one of the greatest sweepers in the game, that is if you were able to set up. Solar Power increases its special attack by 50 percent at the sacrifice of losing 1/8 of its HP per turn when he is under Sunlight. A Charizard under Sunlight, holding a Flame Plate, type advantage moves, and the ability Solar Power, can potentially OHKO any Pokemon that doesn't resist it (or has Sturdy). Just imagine a Fire Blast, then increase its power by 50 percent (Sunlight), plus another 50 percent (Flame Plate), then another 50 percent (type advantage move), and one more 50 percent (Solar Power).

The sunlight is literally an overdose of steroids for Charizard, and with immunity to the most popular move in Wi-Fi battle, Earthquake, Charizard has made one of the greatest comebacks of any Pokemon.
6. When you battle the Elite Four for the first time, who is the champion you will be facing?

Answer: N

When you reach the champion's room, you will see that he was already defeated by N who is now the new champion. You will face him at the top of his new castle (which will pop out from nowhere) and defeat him and his legendary Pokemon sidekick Reshiram/Zekrom depending on which version.

This is also the first time in Pokemon history you will battle a legendary Pokemon in the Pokemon League.
7. All starter Pokemon have the same amount of total base stats.

Answer: False

All starters are supposed to be equal, but that doesn't seem to be the case statwise. The starter with the highest total base stat is Swampert with a total of 535. The three starters just behind him are Charizard, Typhlosion, and Infernape; all three have 534 total base stats and are all fire type starters.

The three starters with the lowest on the other hand are Venusaur, Meganium, and Torterra; which have a total of only 525 and, strangely enough, are grass type starters. I don't know if there was some sort of bias in the stat making but that's fact, all other starters are within this gap.

But don't be let down by the total stats, let us not forget that Blaziken is the first starter to be considered by smogon to be uber class after "Black/White" was released.

The Fire/Fighting chicken stands tall as the greatest starter that ever lived.
8. All legendary Pokemon are not allowed in wifi battle.

Answer: False

Not all legendary Pokemon are banned form wifi battle. Heatran, Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Entei, Raikou, Suicune, as well as many others are not banned in wifi. They are somewhat known as lesser legendaries since their total base stats will never exceed 600 but of course this is not what makes them banned. Darkrai is one example of many that is banned despite only totaling 600.

Another, even though it's not a legendary, is Wobbuffet who has a very low amount of total stats but is banned due to obvious reasons.
9. Which of these electric type Pokemon has the highest special attack stat?

Answer: Magnezone

If you thought it was one of the three legendaries in the list then you are wrong! Magnezone has the highest special attack stat of any electric Pokemon reaching 130 base special attack (yes, no electric Pokemon, not even even legendaries, has ever reached this high even with the release of "Black/White").

Despite this, his horrible 60 base speed and unbearable x4 weakness to earthquake (Magnezone has no levitate unlike his pre-evolution counterpart) makes it a real bummer. Using the other three choices would be a better choice for wifi battle, especially Zapdos and Thundrerus.
10. How many turtle/tortoise Pokemon are there up to "Pokemon Black/White" (only consider the final evolution for those with several evolutions)?

Answer: 4

Blastoise, Torterra, Carracosta, and Torkoal are the turtles/tortoise of the Pokemon world. If you consider their pre-evolutions there is a total of 9 turtles/tortoise, all of which are not commonly used Pokemon in Wi-Fi.
