Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Yuri Hyuga's middle name?

Answer: Volte

Halley is another character from the first "Shadow Hearts" game and Ben was Yuri's father's name in the American version of the game. For unknown reasons, Ben's name was Jinpachiro in the Japanese original.
2. What was the first name of Yuri's father in the Japanese version of "Shadow Hearts 1"?

Answer: Jinpachiro

Yuri's father is named Jinpachiro Hyuga. Citan is from "Xenogears", another Playstation RPG. Coincidently, Citan's real name was also Hyuga.
3. How are Yuri and Kurando related?

Answer: Cousins

Yuri's father, Jinpachiro, was the brother of Kurando's mother, Saki. That explains why Kurando has Harmonixer Blood.
4. Which other character besides Alice Elliot was able to use the special skill "White Magic"?

Answer: Nicolai

Father Elliot may have been able to use "White Magic", but it is unknown, as he was never a playable character. Anastasia used her Camera and Portrait Book as her special, and Zhuzhen used "Taoist Magic".
5. How many Fusion Souls were in "Shadow Hearts" 1?

Answer: Twenty-one

Three for each of the six Elements (18), Amon (19), and Seraphic Radience (20). Albert Simon fused with the Soul of Amon and the Soul of Messiah making twenty-one. Although the Soul of Messiah is not one Yuri can use, it is still a Fusion Soul.
6. How many Fusion Souls were there in "Shadow Hearts: Covenant"?

Answer: Twenty-eight

Again, there were three for each of the six elements (18), Amon (19), and the new form of the Seraphic Radience, Dark Serpahim (20). However, there was also Asmodeus (21), used by Rasputin and Astaroth (22) used by Nicolai. Also, Amon, Asmodeus, and Astaroth, had 'Neo' forms (25). Finally, Kurando had two Fusions himself, and his mother Saki had another, making 28.
7. In both games, what item allows for the user's attack motion to repeat seven times?

Answer: Seventh Key

Seventh Key is a very powerful item, as it can help you out of tough situations. However, since the indicator speed increases with each rotation, it may be difficult to activate all seven sweeps. To make it easier, try using a Silver Hand. Another rare item that fills the indicator range to maximum, so you can not miss.
8. What was different about the accessory 'Crucifix' between the two games?

Answer: "Shadow Hearts; Covenant" added Full Judgment Ring Protection Effect

In both games, there is an accessory called 'Pocket Watch' that protects the user from Judgment Ring Effects. In the first game, 'Crucifix' only protected against Status Effects, and in the sequel, 'Crucifix' protected against both Status Effects and Judgment Ring Effects, making it far more useful.
9. In both games, what special items were needed to gain access to Yuri's third Elemental Fusion Souls?

Answer: Gravestones & Soul Drops

In the first game, Gravestones of each of the six elements were needed to unlock the third level Fusion Souls. In the sequel, and item called 'Soul Drop' was needed instead.
10. How many sword users joined your team in both games combined?

Answer: Four

In "Shadow Hearts 1", the first of the Valentine Family, Keith, is a sword user. "Shadow Hearts; Covenant" adds three more to the repertoire, including Karin Koenig, Nicolai Conrad, and Kurando Inugami, making a total of four.
11. How many known siblings are there in the Valentine family?

Answer: Three

They include: the eldest, Keith, who is also known as the Silver Bat, his younger brother, Joachim, who also known as the Golden Bat, and the youngest sister, the Pink Bat, who was unnamed in the first two games.
She is a character who joins the team in the third installment in the series, "Shadow Hearts 3: From the New World". Her name is Hildegard.
12. Other than Yuri, Keith, and Alice, who from the playable party members of "Shadow Hearts 1" do you meet in the sequel?

Answer: Margarete

Roger Bacon was never playable in either game, though he tricks you both times by allowing you to name him. Halley left for America with his mother, Koudelka, at the end of SH1, and Zhuzhen still lives in China, which you cannot visit in "Shadow Hearts; Covenant". You can meet Margarete by completing the Item Trading Quest- though she prefers to be called 'Malcovich'.
13. What fuel does the Airship built by Roger Bacon, "The Bacon Jet", run off of?

Answer: Water

Roger mentions that the ship can travel 3,000 kilometers on one bucket of water when he first shows the ship to your party at his house in Wales. However, the ride can be bumpy. The ship crashes at the beginning of disc 2.
14. What is Karin Koenig's true identity?

Answer: Anne Hyuga

Koudelka is Halley's mother, Malcovich is Margaret's code name, and Lt. Col. Kawashima died in the first game. At the end of "Shadow Hearts: Covenant", Karin is transported back in time and loses her memory. She then meets Jinpachiro Hyuga, and become his wife. Jinpachiro names her 'Anne' after the picture she was holding and she later becomes the mother of Yuri. Major twist ending!
15. *SPOILER* Other than Yuri's Harmonixer Blood, what is his mixed nationality?

Answer: Japanese & German

Most players would automatically assume that his mixed blood is Japanese and Russian, because it says so in the first game and he tells it to Anastasia, a Russian Princess, in the sequel. However, by reading the question above, we learn that his mother, Anne, was actually Karin Koenig, a German. Thereby making his Russian blood, German.
