Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much does a Microwave Power Plant cost?

Answer: $28,000

You shouldn't really try to buy a Microwave Power Plant until much later in the game. They're VERY expensive, despite their amazing efficiency. There's also a (small) chance that the beam could misfire and destroy most of your city, but don't let that put you off buying one, it happens extremely rarely!
2. What do you win when your city reaches 30,000 population?

Answer: Statue

If you use the query tool on your statue after you've placed it, you will be told how many pigeons have perched on it! The statue is only one square in size, but it's still the size of an average house in "Sim City".
(You can access the query tool by holding shift and clicking on whatever you want info on.)
3. You can purchase a mini Eiffel Tower once you have 120,000 population.

Answer: False

Once you have 120,000 population, you can start buying Arcologies to further increase it. You can't buy a mini Eiffel Tower at all, although the Llama Dome does look a little like the Eiffel Tower...
4. Which of these disasters can NOT happen to your city?

Answer: Getting hit by a Meteor

In later versions of "Sim City", you can summon a Meteor (if you really wanted to). This is in "Sim City 4", though. You can also have a Volcano erupting as well!
5. Which of these Power Plants is the most energy efficient?

Answer: Coal Power

Coal Power Costs $4,000 for 200mW of power, meaning it costs $20 per mW. (mW stands for MegaWatt)
Oil Power costs $6,600 for 250mW, which is $26.40 per mW.
Gas costs $3,000 for 100mW, which equals $30 per mW
Wind Power costs $100 for 4mW, which is $25 per mW.

Coal may be the most efficient, but it is also the most polluting. You have to think of several different factors when building a city!
6. Which of these buildings does NOT need to be supplied with electricity?

Answer: Oil Power Plant

The Power Plant doesn't need to be supplied with electricity because it creates it! A condominium is a high density office block, so it needs power. A church needs power, and of course a zoo does!
7. What is the maximum number of piers that a Seaport can have?

Answer: One for each tile next to the sea

It would look pretty ridiculous, but a Seaport can have a pier for each piece of it adjacent to an open body of water. It just depends on how big your Seaport is, really.
8. What is the maximum possible rate of taxes?

Answer: 20%

You COULD raise your taxes to 20%, but everyone would move out of the city because they would be unable to afford them, and then you would run out of money from the diminished population. You'd then have to lower your takes in order to bring them back, by which time you'll be in serious debt! A good number to keep your taxes is about 7% or 8%. Any higher than that, and the people will let you know.
9. You can destroy your own City.

Answer: True

You can! all you need to do is select the 'Disasters' list on the bar at the top, and you can pick what disaster to set loose on your city, be it a Fire, a Flood, or an angry man-eating metallic Monster! You can also pick 'no disasters' to stop any from happening.
10. What company created "Sim City 2000"?

Answer: Maxis

If you play "The Sims" games, this one is easy. "Sim City" was a predecessor to "The Sims". You'll also find other things, like "Sim Hospital", and "Sim Farm" if you look hard enough.

'Squaresoft' is the company that created the first ten "Final Fantasy" games. 'Rare' created games like "Donkey Kong Country" and "Killer Instinct", and Lister is a car company. I hope you've enjoyed this quiz!
