Sora and Riku have been best friends since they were little. In "Birth by Sleep", Sora and Riku are shown to be about four years old, and they are close friends. Sora chases Riku around the worlds, hoping to find him and save him from the darkness. Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie are other teenagers that live in Sora's home world.

Sora wears fingerless gloves, slightly puffy pants, and a little hoodie. His shoes look like they are made for someone with bigger feet. In "Kingdom Hearts", they are bright yellow. In "Kingdom Hearts 2", they are black and yellow.

Donald uses a wand, Goofy uses a shield, and Cloud uses a sword. Sora, however, is a Keyblade wielder. He got the weapon the night his world was plunging into the darkness. According to Riku, the Keyblade actually chose Riku first. But when he was taken by the darkness, Sora gained the weapon. Sora uses it to take down enemies, seal keyholes, and even open pathways between different worlds.

Saïx is the Nobody is Isa, Axel is the Nobody of Lea, and Naminé is the Nobody of Kairi. Roxas is the thirteenth member of Organization XIII. Like all Nobodies, Roxas was born when Sora became a Heartless. Sora became a Heartless in "Kingdom Hearts", after unlocking his heart with the Keyblade in order to free Kairi's heart and wake her up. Kairi's hug turned him back into Sora.

Kairi befriended Sora and Riku when she first came to their home, Destiny Islands. She had no memory of her past or where she came from, and lived with the Mayor. The three of them were planning on building a raft to leave Destiny islands and find other worlds; and maybe even Kairi's home world. Sora and Riku both have feelings for her.

Destiny Islands is a group of islands in the middle of an unnamed ocean. Sora lives there with his childhood friends Riku and Kairi, as well as some other kids. He and his friends want to leave Destiny Islands, however. Their wish is granted when the heartless come and plunge their world into darkness.

Twilight Town and The World That Never Was are worlds in "Kingdom Hearts II", but not the original "Kingdom Hearts". Destiny Islands is his home world. After his world was consumed, Sora woke up in an alleyway in Traverse Town, with a dog named Pluto by his side. Pluto ran off, prompting Sora to follow. His adventures were soon to begin.

Tetsuya Nomura originally intended for Sora to be half-lion, but eventually decided a human protagonist was the best. Sora was also meant to wield a chainsaw instead of a Keyblade! Early artwork by Tetsuya Nomura shows that his design has come a long way from his original design.

The instruction booklet for the game says that Sora is fourteen years old. His best friend Riku is a year older. Sora is fifteen in "Kingdom Hearts II", since a year has passed.

At the end of "Kingdom Hearts", Kairi went back to Destiny islands alone, and Riku was trapped in Kingdom Hearts. The events of "Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories" take place right after "Kingdom Hearts". Sora's memories were rewritten in "Chain of Memories".

He was put to sleep in a pod by Naminé so she could get his memories back and put them back together. Roxas wakes him up in "Kingdom Hearts II".

After the final fight against Xemnas, Sora and Riku are trapped in the Dark Margin. They sit on the beach together and talk, and Sora finds a message in a bottle. It's the same one Kairi was writing at the beginning of the game. The Door to Light opens up for them.

When they come through the other side, they are in the ocean near their home. They swim ashore to be reunited with Kairi, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.

It is unknown if Sora has any aunts or uncles as of "Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance". Riku tells Terra that Sora's father has a boat in "Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep". Sora's mother calls to him during the storm in "Kingdom Hearts". However, Sora has already gone to the other island to make sure the raft he, Riku, and Kairi had made was still there.

Sora's ability to go into Drive Forms comes from the new clothes that the Three Good Fairies gave him at the Mysterious Tower. One of his forms comes up randomly when he goes into one of his other forms. This one is called Anti-form. Sora's other Drive Forms are Valor, Wisdom, Master, and Final. In "Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix", Sora has a sixth form; Limit.

Donald becomes a mummy, and Goofy becomes a Frankenstein. None of them become a zombie. Sora has little fangs in his Vampire form, and wears a pumpkin mask on one side of his head. In "Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix", he wears a black version of Santa's outfit when he goes to Christmas Town.
