Terranigma Multiple Choice Quiz | Video Games

Next to 'Zelda', this is my all-time favourite SNES game. If you are in Australia, Europe, or Japan, I'm sure you've heard of it. Unfortunately, it was never released in North America, which is a shame considering it is simply amazing.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Terranigma" is the third game in what popular SNES series?

Answer: Soul Blazer

"Soul Blazer 1" was self-titled, "Soul Blazer 2" was called "Illusion of Gaia", or "Illusion of Time", and "Terranigma" was the third in the set.
2. What is Ark, the main character's, hometown?

Answer: Crysta

Crysta is also home to his true love, Elle, who appears in multiple forms throughout the game.
3. In almost every location throughout the game, Ark can find small blue rocks that can be traded in for magical rings. What are these rocks called?

Answer: Magirocks

There are so many Magirocks scattered throughout the game that one is sure to miss a few. Some of them are hidden, some are obvious, and some are so obvious that they are given as rewards!
4. To resurrect the continents of the Earth at the beginning of the game, Ark must complete how many towers?

Answer: 5

Tower 1 resurrects Eurasia (both Europe and Asia), Tower 2 resurrects South America, Tower 3 resurrects Africa, Tower 4 resurrects North America, and Tower 5 resurrects Australia. I don't know what happened with Antarctica, but it got resurrected somehow!
5. To resurrect the Earth from a barren wasteland into a lush, green landscape, Ark must defeat what?

Answer: The Ra Tree's "Parasite"

The Ra Tree is the first real level that Ark faces after resurrecting the continents.
6. What is the name of the lion cub that ventures off to the canyon, the one of which Ark must help guide along and keep away from danger?

Answer: Liem

Liem walks very slow, so it's always hard to keep pace. But, at some points, Liem would hop along while Ark would have to defeat like 15 enemies. When Ark met up with Liem on the next screen, does he commend the efforts of the great Ark? No! He harasses Ark for being too slow!
7. Near the beginning of Chapter 3, you awaken in a town that turns out to be a zombie hideout in disguise. What town is this?

Answer: Louran

The town was 'supposedly' deserted, but you enter to find it full of people. Upon sleeping in the inn, you awaken to see that everyone is actually a zombie.
8. The castle where you place the four jewels (black opal, ruby, sapphire, and topaz) into the eyes of the portraits is Dragoon Castle.

Answer: False

This is actually Sylvain Castle. Dragoon Castle is a castle later in the game that looks relatively similar from the outside, but instead of fighting enemies, Ark sneaks around in an attempt to not be caught.
9. How much does Ark pay for his boat?

Answer: 0 gems

Ark pays nothing! Upon entering the docks, a rich man offers his boat in exchange for anyone who can rid the sea of deadly monsters. When Ark does this, the boat can be used freely!
10. There is a girl who likes Ark that he meets numerous times throughout the game. She can create illusions of other people. What is her name?

Answer: Meilin

In one particular scene in Liotto, Meilin wants Ark to meet her there that night, and before running away, she screams out "I love you Ark!" After Ark rests and wake up, he goes back to that spot and is shocked to see Elle (from Crysta) there. After Ark talks to her and has a somewhat romantic conversation, Meilin appears, saying that the illusion was all her doing.

She then screams out "I hate you Ark!" and runs off again!
11. Who invents the telephone in this game?

Answer: Bell

This should be relatively easy, even if you haven't played the game! The "Bell" character in this game is love struck over the fact his girlfriend is so far away, so he sets out to invent the telephone, a device where people can communicate across vast distances instantly ...and why is this question such common sense? Well, it's Alexander Graham BELL who invented the telephone, of course! In this game, Ark also meets Pierre, who invents the camera, and Eddy, who discovers electricity.
12. The town of Suncoast is located on which continent?

Answer: Australia

The game itself is based around our current Earth, and the map reflects that perfectly, as the two look the exact same. Suncoast is the only real attraction in Australia, and is only popular when Ark does some tasks to publicize it.
13. Here is a character that Ark meets and interacts with a few times throughout the game, along with the town they reside in. Which of these matches is incorrect?

Answer: Matis of Suncoast

Matis, a painter, is actually from Loire, along with Pierre, Marily, a winemaker, and many others.
14. Which of these weapons does Ark start off with?

Answer: CrySpear

Ark starts off with the CrySpear, which slowly heals his HP, but only when he is in the underworld. Ark's final weapon is the HeroPike, which does +80 damage over the original weapon. That's equivalent to hundreds of damage points per hit.
15. After Ark defeats Bloody Mary, what famous voyager does he find sitting in the corner of the room?

Answer: Columbus

The game clearly recognizes him as the great discoverer. Even though he is only called "Columbus", there are books Ark can read in the castle's library that talk about his voyages and such.
16. A boy that Ark befriends, Perel, uses what mode of transportation?

Answer: skateboard

When Ark first enters Freedom, he meets Perel in the town centre. After watching him do some skateboarding moves, the two become friends.
17. During the game, Ark can do an expansion quest by delivering nine letters to nine certain people, who help to rebuild the town that burned down. What town is this?

Answer: Nirlake

Nirlake does indeed burn down, but oddly enough, Will's house (east end of Nirlake) is left unscathed.
18. Which of these bosses does not exist?

Answer: Yunkou's "Cursed Caper"

Yunkou is a small town that means you no harm, and there is no "Cursed Caper"!
19. Which of these is NOT a town in "Terranigma"?

Answer: Shuntai

The five main towns that can be expanded are Freedom, Nirlake, Loire, Suncoast, and Litz. Crysta is where Ark starts off, and Storkholm is a mirror town version of Crysta at the end of Norfest Forest.
20. This game had four chapters, the first being "The Outset". Which of these was NOT one of the other chapters?

Answer: "Resurrection of the Peace"

Chapter 2 was the world, where Ark would restore balance to Earth's many natural states, like green grass, colourfully blue skies, and breezy winds. Chapter 3 was the resurrection of the genius, as Ark would restore complexities like man's quest for knowledge. Chapter 4 was the very ending, where Ark would prove his worth in the final battle. Well, that's it! Thanks for playing! I hope you enjoyed this quiz as much as you enjoyed Enix's amazing "Terranigma"!
