Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these names is NOT associated with Kidsgart?

Answer: Catherine

When Ark arrives at Kidsgart for the first time, Perel introduces him to the three children present there: Paul, Harry and Linda. He then realises that a fourth child, Anita, is absent, and panics when he learns that she has run off to help Will build his aeroplane. Catherine is the name spoken by a boy at the chicken races to the north of Loire, and thus has no link to Kidsgart.
2. Which of these is the odd one out in a musical sense?

Answer: Eklemata (inside)

In Eklemata, it does not make any difference whether Ark is in the open or in a cave: the music is the same. The tune there has already featured in Grecliff and will feature again in Norfest Forest.
3. Around halfway through Eklemata, an avalanche traps Ark in a cave. To escape, he has to scale a vertical wall by using the Sharp Claws. Next to where he emerges is a chest that contains what?

Answer: Stardew

All these items can be found in chests somewhere in Eklemata. Ark effectively has two chances to get this Stardew as he has to pass this chest before the avalanche happens. However, the purpose of a Stardew is to lift curses, and it is perfectly possible to go through the game without being cursed even once.
4. The battle with Storm Master at the end of Zue features an Easter Egg. During the second part of the battle, the platform Ark is standing on begins to plummet downwards. If he takes too long to defeat Storm Master, the platform makes it as far as the Underworld, where the Elder executes Ark for returning before completing his duty.

Answer: False

Unfortunately, this scenario is nothing more than a product of my imagination. Once Ark leaves the Underworld at the end of Chapter 1, he has no way of returning until the very end of the game.
5. The description "made of a thorny bush" describes which weapon?

Answer: Sticker

The ThunPike is described as "charged with thunderbolts", the 3PartRod "raises DEF points slightly" and the Fauchard is "a knife-tipped rod used by samurais". The Sticker is the weakest of these four weapons and can be found in Zue.
6. Towns in the Surface World that can be developed are depicted on the map screen either as ordinary houses (basic) or as grey squares (modern), depending on how developed they are. However, these same images are also used for towns that cannot be developed. Which of these towns is NOT depicted by grey squares?

Answer: Liotto

Ark can take photographs of most of these towns if he has the Camera, even though they cannot be developed. However, the Tourist Bureaus show no interest in seeing images of these places. Of the four towns in question here, Mosque is the only one which cannot be photographed.
7. During the first two Chapters, resurrection cut-scenes are played whenever Ark completes a section. After Eklemata, a previously unheard tune plays during the cut-scene. Including this occasion, how many times does this tune appear in the game?

Answer: Four

Its second appearance happens when the Elder appears to Ark in a dream and tells him to head south (from Loire to Litz). It does not appear again until Ark has resurrected Beruga and is almost killed by machines. Its final appearance is at the beginning of Chapter 4, when Ark is a baby in Storkolm.
8. When Ark first meets him in Freedom, Bell is worrying about his girlfriend, who lives in Nirlake. What is her name?

Answer: Amanda

Rather than being loyal to Bell, Amanda has gotten tired of him being more interested in machines than in her, and has gotten herself a new boyfriend. However, she shows a more personable side later in the game, as she calls Bell after the Nirlake fire to let him know she's all right. Anna, Anastasia and Alexandra do not feature in the game.
9. To complete Grecliff, Ark has to face the Dark Twins. Around halfway through the battle, the green bird summons help from the brown bird, who tries to drop dung on Ark. If Ark should touch this dung, what caption appears on the screen?

Answer: Oh no!

Ark says "tsk" when he comes across locked doors to which he has no key, people in Yunkou say "aiyeah" at various points, and Yomi says "ack" when he is chastising Elle for being unable to bring herself to kill Ark as a baby in Storkolm. The dung in Grecliff does not take off a huge amount of health, so it is worth hitting it once just to see the "oh no" caption, as it does not appear anywhere else in the game.
10. How many STR (Strength) Potions can be found in the game?

Answer: Four

The four STR (Strength) Potions are located in Grecliff, Louran, Sylvain Castle, and Alaska. The number of DEF (Defense) Potions is also four, as is the number of Luck Potions, but there are eleven Life Potions to be found, including an extremely well-hidden one in Norfest Forest.
11. "Terranigma" is not without errors. The following four examples are obvious typographical errors (rather than errors in translation). Which of these typos does NOT appear in the game?

Answer: Legned

"Lling" is written in one of the old books in the library of Sylvain Castle, and most probably should be "repelling" or "killing". "Povided" means "provided" and can be found in the description of the Airfield Plans. "Anoyone" should be "anyone" and is spoken by Madame Papilo when Loire has been fully developed. To my knowledge, "legned" does not appear as a typo for "legend", but if anoyone (!) knows any different, let me know.
12. What is peculiar about the sub-area of Mu?

Answer: The music doesn't match the scenery

Mu features the jungle scenery first encountered in Zue. All other areas to feature this scenery have the same music as Zue, but for whatever reason, the music in Mu is the theme heard in Grecliff, Norfest Forest, etc. There are no enemies in Mu, Rama does not make an appearance (unfortunately), and the two chests there can be opened as normal.
13. Which of these Underworld enemies does NOT appear in the Surface World at any time?

Answer: Guardner

Guardner is a ghostly enemy who appears on walls in the Underworld's towers and has to be killed by means of a jumping attack. He also fires sleep spells that will cause Ark to return to the beginning of whatever tower he is in. Fortunately, the Sleepless Seal can block these sleep spells, and even more fortunately, once Ark leaves the Underworld, Guardner is never seen again.

Of the other three, Whisp is the only one to make a significant appearance in the Surface World, as there are quite a few of them in the Canyon. There are two Purple Huballs, both of which can be found in the South American sub-area where two squirrels challenge Ark to get from one side of the course to the other quickly to win a Magirock. The only Cadet to be seen above ground is during the second phase of the Dark Morph battle at the end of Eklemata. Similar to Agahnim in "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past", this Cadet can be defeated only by having his own power returned to him.
14. As well as with their basic increase, the following four armors all affect Ark's STR (Strength) in a secondary way, be it positively or negatively, but which one also reduces his DEF (Defense) by 15 points?

Answer: Red Armor

The Red Armor raises Strength by 13, reduces Defense by 15, and also reduces Life by 90. The Pro Armor is effectively the opposite of the Red Armor, as it reduces Strength by 12, raises Defense by 11, and raises Life by 40. The KungFuGi raises Strength by 8 but has no effect on any other attributes, and the Holy Suit reduces Strength by 10 and raises Luck by 15.
15. When Ark walks around Crysta for one last time after the defeat of Dark Gaia, the blue door that had to be broken open at the beginning of the game can no longer be opened. One of the four men sitting around the table near the blue door acts surprised when Ark speaks to him, and describes the blue door in what way?

Answer: Broom Closet

The nature of the blue door is not the only thing to be different in Crysta during this final scene before the game's amazing ending. Nobody has ever heard of the Elder, and the term "Magirock" is unfamiliar. This scene also has its own theme rather than the standard Crysta music.
