"The House of the Dead 2" Trivia Quiz

Answer: James Taylor and Gary Stewart

James (Player 1) is the older of the two who is always calm and level-headed. He is the one in the grey suit. Gary (Player 2) on the other hand is a young agent and is quite brash and impetuous. Gary is the agent in the dark blue suit.

Answer: Harry Harris and Amy Crystal

The players first meet Harry Harris and Amy Crystal at the end of Chapter 1. They mention the Curien Case ("House of the Dead 1") and part. You meet them again at the end of Chapter 2, where they watch you battle Hierophant, the second boss. During the third level, they drive the boat carrying the players as passengers whilst they shoot the enemies, and later drop them off at a cave. You hear from them again after defeating Tower, the third boss, and hear Amy scream.

The last time you see Amy and Harry is at the end of Chapter 4, where the boss, Strength, has wounded Harry. Harry gives you his keys and tells you where to find Goldman, the main antagonist of the game, and you proceed to Chapter 5.

Answer: Goldman

Caleb Goldman is the owner of a company, which turns out to have funded Curien during his research in "The House of the Dead 1". It turns out that the reason he has released these monsters to wipe out humanity is because the humans have failed in their original duty; to protect the life cycle.

In the end, no matter which ending you get, Goldman throws himself off the top of his headquarters after his masterpiece and the final boss of the game, Emperor, is defeated.

Answer: Venice

The game is set in Venice, which is evident in Chapter 3 when you and others are riding in boats across the water-filled village. It is also mentioned in the later sequel "The House of the Dead 4" that the events of "House of the Dead 2" took place in Venice.

Answer: Magician

Magician Type 0, the final boss from "House of the Dead 1", returns as the fifth boss in "House of the Dead 2", complete with most of his original attacks and theme music. His previous defeat is evident through his appearance as half his body is riddled with worms, and his weak points are now shown in G's files.

He fights almost identically to the way he does in the first game, except his final attack now shoots the fireballs straight towards the player instead of up into the air. Whilst this enables the player to shoot Magician whilst the fireballs are flying towards him unlike his previous attack.

He is also a harder target because of his distance, but most of the fireballs in his new attacks miss you and he doesn't shoot as many fireballs as he did in his original final attack.

Answer: True

The players find a wounded G during Chapter 1. G had apparently gotten frustrated that the events he and Rogan worked so hard to stop are unfolding again, and so tried to tackle them alone. He underestimated Judgement, the first boss however, and was almost killed. When the players find him, he gives them his boss, which contains all the bosses' weak points.

Thomas Rogan however is only confronted if the player achieves a Special rank at the end of the game in one of the game's three alternate endings. As the player leaves Goldman's HQ, Rogan is waiting for them. They exchange some words, then leave and the game ends.

Answer: Kuarl

The armour is called Kuarl. You hear Judgment say "Go Kuarl!" a lot when Kuarl is about to attack and at the beginning of the fight. Shooting Judgment will hurt both Kuarl and Judgment, whilst shooting Kuarl will only drain a small amount of their shared health bar. Kuarl will die when approximately three quarters of their health bar is drained, leaving Judgment to fight the player alone.

Answer: The heart beating in and out of his chest

Hierophant is the second boss of the game. He is a large scaly monster wielding a trident, his heart beating in and out of a hole in his chest. He also commands piranhas to attack the player, and later uses an attack where he jumps very high and stabs the player upon landing.

Answer: The Sun

The Sun isn't used in "House of the Dead 2", but he is in the later sequel "House of the Dead 4". The Sun is a remake of Magician and shares all of his attacks and abilities. He appears as a tall humanoid created in a long red hooded coat.

Tower is the third boss of "House of the Dead 2". He is a five-headed sea hydra, four of his heads being red and the other silver. The player must shoot the inside of each of the head's mouths when they open. The red heads die first, and then the player battles the silver head one on one, the silver head having a life bar of its own.

Strength is a zombie giant with a chainsaw. He chases you around the coliseum and the player must shoot his head before he attacks otherwise they will lose a life.

The Emperor is the final boss of the game, who appears as a large silver humanoid created with a red wheel on his chest. The files say his weak point is unknown, but it is in fact the red wheel. Emperor uses a range of attacks, such as shooting silver orbs at the player, turning his arm into a blade, and even summoning replicas of some of the previous bosses (Judgment without Kuarl, Hierophant, one of the Tower heads, and Strength) to attack the player.

Answer: G

At the beginning of the game, the player confronts a wounded G (Player 2 from the first game) sitting in the library. He tells the player that he underestimated the enemy and paid for it, and then gives them a golden book. Before each boss fight, if you look at the book showing the weak points before it flicks open, you can make out the front page saying "G's files".

Answer: A maggot jumps out their chest and attacks you

If you shoot one of these zombies in the chest, a maggot jumps out and attacks you. The zombies will then die. The maggot can be killed in one shot so it isn't a problem. However, you can easily kill the zombie by shooting them in the head, which in turn also awards the player more points.

"House of the Dead 1" villain Curien is absent from this game. His name is however mentioned briefly in one of the cutscenes where Harry refers to "The 1998 Curien Case" when referring to the events of "House of the Dead 1".

Answer: 80000

The player's ranking depends on their score. If a player scores 80000 points or more, they will achieve the "Special" ranking, which is the highest in the game. In addition to the ranking, anyone scoring above this points value will also receive the special ending where "House of the Dead 1" protagonist Thomas Rogan makes an appearance.

Answer: Instant Death

Instant Death doesn't exist, but Bullet Blow is pretty much the same thing. The player's shots when using the Bullet Blow upgrade kill the zombies in one shot, and damage a boss's health bar significantly.

Rotten Meat causes the zombies to have big heads. Whilst this upgrade is mostly humourous, it does actually make the game a lot easier because the zombies heads become much easier targets, and effectively the player will gain more points for head shots.

UFO is a minor upgrade that doesn't affect the game at all but simply has UFOs flying in the sky during the game.

Answer: The antagonist is beamed up into a space ship

"The Typing of the Dead" contains much more comical endings as opposed to the canon "House of the Dead 2" game. The ending the player gets is determined by the sentences they choose to input when battling the final boss Emperor, and also how fast they entered them.

The one where Goldman explodes is the easiest of the three of the get and is the default ending, whilst the bungee ending only appears if the player makes a single mistake against Emperor. The third ending where Goldman flies away is obtainable if the player defeats Emperor flawlessly.
