Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the school from which Alex D. escapes?

Answer: The Tarsus Academy.

The escape from the Tarsus Academy (both at Old Chicago *and* Upper Seattle) is perhaps the most tension-filled moment in the game. Also, those who have played "Deus Ex" might recognize the voice of the lead (male) scientist as that of the "Deus Ex" character Walton Simons.
2. Who are the three main factions you can work for?

Answer: The W.T.O., The Order Church, and The Knights Templar.

Just as the origin story for U.N.A.T.C.O. from "Deus Ex" proved to be eerily accurate (expansion of global terrorism, a large American structure / icon being destroyed, reactionary U.S. and U.N. anti-terrorism committees, etc.), perhaps "Invisible War"'s ascension of the World Trade Organization will turn out to be more truth than fiction.
3. Who are the three other escaped candidates?

Answer: Leo, Klara, and Billie.

Just as Klara says, she's the "only one without an alterior motive." Sadly, shes also the only one who doesn't have a clue whats going on. Kind of sad, huh? This was one of Ion Storm's weak points, as it seems like some sort of relationship is supposed to blossom between Klara and Alex (presuming your a man), but it never really develops. Depending on how you play, Leo and Billie will either die, or follow you to Liberty Island (for good or bad). Only Klara refuses to partake...she goes back to Seattle for a cheap beer and some greasel fights!
4. Which familiar supporting characters (from "Deus Ex 1") are the parents of Lin-May Chen?

Answer: Max Chen and Maggie Chow.

Thats right, little Lin-May was born to Max Chen (Dragon-head of the Red Arrow triad) and Maggie Chow (A Majestic-12 henchman...err, hench-woman). Other familiar faces include Tracer Tong, J.C. & Paul Denton, Chad Dumier, and Nicolette DuClare.
5. Where did Alex D. come from?

Answer: He/She was an artificially engineered human.

Thats right---Alex Denton is an artificially engineered human. Yes, I know Lumion Samon told him he was nothing special...lumion was wrong. Klara, Leo and Billie were examples of modified humans, but Alex himself was "grown" at Area 51. Those of you with the original "Deus Ex" can go to the Area 51 bunker where there are bodies in large tanks, and see that one of them (with donor source unknown) is listed as one "Alex Denton." Thats why, just like J.C. and Paul, he was uncannily good at near everything...why he looked nothing like his parents (all three used the cover story of being "orphans" with foster parents)...and why Leila Nassif was so "sure" that he (Alex) would be the one to support their goals (which were founded by Paul and J.C.)
6. Luminon Samon's Knights Templar (and Templar Paladins) were the direct descendants of the legendary Knights Templar.

Answer: False

The name was all Samon's organization had in common with the original Knights Templar. The order of Knights Templar was surpressed (in real life) both religiously and politically, and in terms of the "Deus Ex" reality, you learn in the first game that the Illuminati eradicated what was left of their organization, keeping only the Templar banks (which they---the Illuminati---later used to found the gold-standard economic system).
7. The young female pilot searching for her passenger is actually an A.I. construct still operating on an order she was given some 30 years prior to the events of "Deus Ex: Invisible War."

Answer: True

Tracer Tong actually created her in order to search for J.C.Denton following the collapse. Something always confused me, though...neither her vehicle (a Comanche-esque helicopter) nor Sid Black's jet (Harrier Jump-Craft) are passenger---or even multiple-seat---craft...where the heck did Alex sit?!
8. The S.S.C. Headquarters in Trier, Germany, is a good place to go if you're looking for someone---especially a pilot.

Answer: False

As anyone who played the game would know, the "Neun-Welten Tavern" (Nine Worlds Tavern) is the place to go. Overall, though, I was pretty disappointed. Just like "The Underworld Tavern" from "Hell's Kitchen" ("Deus Ex"), the Neun-Welten Tavern was just about empty. How can you say a location is a good place to search for people if it only contains the one person you need, plus a few extras? Surely even in post-collapse society there are more than 5 people who want a whiskey sour.
9. The ammunition in "Deus Ex: Invisible War" works for every weapon because in 2055, all firearms were standardized to a uniform 10mm caliber.

Answer: False

False. THe ammo is universal because the clips are actually colloids of nanomachines. It is the *machines* that make the ammunition of the correct caliber. A pretty lame idea, in my opinion, mostly because once you're out---you're out. No pistol, no rifle, no rockets.

In the original "Deus Ex" you had a lot more options because each weapon (obviously) used its own kind of ammunition.
10. The "Omar Technosect" are NOT aliens, but rather an ever-expanding group of neo-humans started by russian Versa-Life scientists concerned with survival in post-collapse Earth.

Answer: True

Yup...a bunch of full-on technophiles. At first, I thought they were aliens too, but there are plenty of clues that give them away. 1, just listening to the W.T.O. people talk about them will give you a few ideas. 2, talking to Le Jankowski (providing you dont kill him) will reveal what they truly are (including how they "modify" humans). 3, when you are digging around the abandoned Versa-Life waystation on Antartica, you can find a data cube that talks about "russian biomod tech." they mention that it is far ahead of their own research ("enables non-piezochem funcionality") but they're worried at the controlling nature of the design. Thanks for taking my quiz, and I hope you'll stick around for future portions!
