Answer: Dolphin Lundgren

The Dolphin was recruited to create maximum damage and, as a result, he is highly useful in situations when you're confronted with either rows of enemies or the bosses. Apart from his rapid fire LMG, Dolphin is also able to generate small pulses, but these are only useful at short range. In his early days of creation, it was mooted that he'd be called "Soniq the Dolphin", that he'd wear a set of large red shoes and have the ability to fire golden rings. However, the creator's legal division cautioned against this.

Answer: Jean Rambois

Jean can fire three lines of bullets in a cone shape, which sets him up as the ideal choice to wipe out waves of enemies. However, he prefers these opponents to, generally, be of the weaker sort. He can also fire in single shot mode but his bullets do not possess any special qualities.

(The Hint) John Rambo (almost Rambois) was the key character in the movie "First Blood" (1982) starring Sylvester Stallone.

Answer: Re-Bot

Bot's missiles cause damage and that's damage with a serious capital "D". He can fire up to four missiles, and these have the power to zero in on his enemies. He can also fire bullets in three-round bursts. However, the biggest issue for Re-Bot is his awkward shape and size. It makes it difficult for him to make use of Blockerson's shield, leaving him exposed to enemy bullets.

(The Hint) Did you really need one? I mean, he's a robot (a machine) named Re-bot.

Answer: Shieldy Blockerson

By putting his shield up in front of himself, Shieldy is able to use it to deflect enemy bullets. The deflected bullets, in turn, are able to destroy other missiles and, even lasers. To do this the shield needs to be "on charge". Once the charge is released it becomes an ordinary shield. It will still be bulletproof but it will make Blockerson vulnerable to grenades and missiles. Shieldy can also use the shield as a weapon. Firstly, he can jump and place the shield under his feet. Landing on an enemy is then likely to be fatal to his opponent. Alternatively, he can charge at his opponents. Contact may not be deadly but it will cause damage.

(The Hint) Escutcheon is another word for shield (almost Shieldy).

Answer: Jef Leppard

Jef is able to fire grenades that are able to bounce of surface terrain. He can also use this to instigate a "rocket jump" - firing at the ground and jumping at the same time for an extra long leap. He is the perfect match for enemies that attack in clusters.

(The Hint) "Hysteria" is the title of Def (almost Jef) Leppard's fourth studio album. Released in 1987 it would sell in excess of 25 million copies world-wide and spawn seven hit singles.

Answer: Stash

There's not a lot to tell you about Stash apart from the fact that he uses a chainsaw and he slashes through enemies with it. Oh, and there's a double barrel shotgun built into the unit as well. Stash is capable of causing some serious damage with these weapons and he is a highly effective operative when confronted with a group attack.

(The Hint) "The Evil Dead", a 1981 film that was written and directed by Sam Raimi gave rise to a highly successful franchise across various forms of media. Played by Bruce Campbell, its main protagonist is a man called Ash (almost Stash) Williams. In "Evil Dead II" (1987), Ash's right hand becomes possessed so he cuts it off and attaches a chainsaw in its place.

Answer: Lou Don Jim

Lou Don Jim is brilliant in face-to-face confrontations with his weapon of choice, the lightsaver. And yes, I got that correct, it is a light... saver, not a light... sabre. The special quality of this sword is that, when Lou Don throws it, it returns to him, boomerang style. On the return journey it has the power to collect "shards", tiny purple pixels that can reduce time to slow motion, and "glorbs", yellow diamonds that provide the player with an additional life.

(The Hint) Well, there wasn't really one. It was hoped that the connection between the name, which is a parody of Qui-Gon Jinn, and the lightsaver were sufficient. Qui-Gon Jinn is the Jedi Master from the 1999 film "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace". Played by Liam Neeson, he apprentices Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and uses a light... sabre, as his weapon of choice.

Answer: Melanie Gibson

All that I can tell you about Melanie is that she needs to get in real close to be effective. Her range with that shotgun is short, but man, can she do some damage with it.

(The Hint) Mel (almost Melanie - don't tell Mel that I said that) Gibson plays the main protagonist, Martin Riggs, in the "Lethal Weapon" film franchise.

Answer: Squirty Harry

Despite having one of the coolest names, Squirty is one of the ugliest characters in this team. Here's why... he is living faeces. Yeah, gross! However, that's not the end of it. Despite having a revolver for a weapon, the firing rate on the gun is slow, so Squirty has a back-up weapon... flatulence. His farts create a gas cloud that can cause damage to both stationary and moving enemies and, if Squirty is able to fire his revolver into this cloud, it will explode and cause considerably more damage.

(The Hint) "Dirty (almost Squirty) Harry" is a 1970 film that features Clint Eastwood as Inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan. His weapon of choice is a .44 Magnum and one of the most iconic phrases that surfaced from this franchise was "Go ahead, make my day" ("Sudden Impact", 1983).

Answer: Zackasaurus

Amongst this group Zack is the epitome of cool. Looking more like a giant kangaroo, he wears shades (sunglasses), sports a Hawaiian shirt and rides the aforementioned skateboard. As for weapons, he doesn't have much. Primarily he bites. And he can spit poison too. I suppose there had to be a letdown somewhere in there.
