Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Upon starting the game, the player will find themselves on route to a mass execution (including their own!). In which town does this execution take place?

Answer: Helgen

The player is captured along with a thief and many Stormcloak soldiers (including their leader Ulfric Stormcloak) and taken to the town of Helgen so that they may be executed. Just as the axe is about to fall on the players head, a dragon appears causing mass panic and allows the player to escape. And so begins the journey of the Dovahkiin...
2. Once you are led out of Helgen (which acts as a tutorial), you are left to fend for yourself - which town is it recommended you visit first by your fellow escapee?

Answer: Riverwood

Regardless of whether you choose to follow Ralof, the Stormcloak, or Hadvar, the Imperial soldier, out of Helgen's secret exit, they will both tell you to head for Riverwood and ask for work. Once you reach Riverwood, the game truly begins as quests begin to pop up from all sides. Your next main objective - head to Whiterun.
3. Which of the following factions can you NOT join during your journey around Skyrim?

Answer: The Silver Hand

The Silver Hand are a group of warriors whose sole objective is to find and kill Werewolves - you will regularly come into contact with them during your time with The Companions. The other three factions can all be joined - The Companions are based in Whiterun, The Bards College in Solitude, and the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary is found just outside of Falkreath.
4. Which of the following is NOT a school of Magic that can be practised in "Skyrim"?

Answer: Mysticism

While Mysticism existed in previous Elder Scrolls, its magical effects have been moved to the other categories. Destruction mainly encompasses damage-related spells (including Fire, Frost, and Shock), Restoration covers healing and defensive spells, while Conjuration relates to re-animation and soul trapping (among others). Magic plays a huge role in helping the player navigate his way around the terrains on Skyrim.
5. After the Dark Brotherhood is attacked by the Penitus Oculatus, only two of the original members survive the assault - one is Nazir, who is the other?

Answer: Babette

After the Dark Brotherhood is targeted and attacked by Commander Maro and other Penitus Oculatus agents, the Sanctuary is burned to the ground, and the player must escape by hiding in the Night Mother's coffin. Upon their escape, it becomes clear that Nazir, the Alik'r assassin, and Babette, the child vampire, are the only members of your family remaining.

This is actually foreshadowed after the quest Breaching Security, when you are given Olava's Token by Gabriella, which lets Olava The Feeble tell you your future...
6. Which Daedric Prince's quest must you complete to receive the Oghma Infinium?

Answer: Hermaeus Mora

By heading to Septimus Signus's Outpost in the far north of the map, at some point you will be contacted by Hermaeus Mora (provided you are Level 15 or above), who appears just as a Wretched Abyss, and he will ask for your assistance with a quest. Once this quest is completed, Mora will grant you the Oghma Infinium - a book which increases a certain amount of the players skills by +5 levels each. You can choose to follow the Path Of Might, the Path Of Shadow, or the Path Of Magic, each of which contains 6 skills which will be increased.
7. What is the name of the dragon that is captured by the player in Dragonsreach, in the town of Whiterun?

Answer: Odahviing

While there are MANY dragons located throughout Skyrim, a handful of them are actually known by name. In main quest chapter 'The Fallen', Odahviing is summoned by the player to Dragonsreach, where he is trapped and interrogated to discover the location of Alduin. During the interrogation, Odahviing admits that he and some of the other dragons are tired of Alduin, and he agrees to fly the player to Skuldafn.

This sets in motion the last stage of the main questline.
8. The Black-Briar family is an extremely powerful and influential group located in Riften - which of the following is NOT a member of the Black-Briar clan?

Answer: Indaryn

While Indaryn works at the Black-Briar meadery, he is not an actual member of the family. Maven is the matriach of the clan, and she has strong ties with both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild. Sibbi is a known thief, and is actually locked up in the Riften jail during the game, while Ingun is a keen alchemist, who employs the players help in gathering rare ingredients for Elgrim's Elixirs.
9. How many DIFFERENT Dragon Shouts are available in "Skyrim"?

Answer: Twenty

There are twenty different Dragon Shouts available - each shout is made up of three individual words. The twenty shouts are: Animal Allegiance, Aura Whisper, Become Ethereal, Call Dragon, Call Of Valor, Clear Skies, Disarm, Dismay, Dragonrend, Elemental Fury, Fire Breath, Frost Breath, Ice Form, Kyne's Peace, Marked For Death, Slow Time, Storm Call, Throw Voice, Unrelenting Force, and Whirlwind Sprint.

Some of these shouts are necessary to complete the main questline, but others are just thrown in to help the player. Once all twenty have been unlocked, the achievement 'Thu'um Master' will pop up.
10. What is the name of the place all valiant Nords wish to reach once their life ends?

Answer: Sovngarde

Sovngarde is the Nordic afterlife - it is a place that is mentioned often in the game, as many of the inhabitants of Skyrim wish to make it here once this life has ended. It turns out that the player will have to travel to Sovngarde to defeat Alduin The World-Eater in the main questline's final battle.

Here, it is possible to meet various Nords who may have died during the game, such as Kodlak Whitemane, Galmar Stone-Fist, and Ulfric Stormcloak.
