Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which "Halo" game was the player character helped by the Pelican pilot Foe Hammer?

Answer: Halo

Foe Hammer was a Pelican pilot who helped Master Chief many times in "Halo: Combat Evolved". In multiple missions she flew Master Chief to his objective, picked him up, and sometimes even dropped off a Warthog. In the final mission, "The Maw", Cortana asked Foe Hammer to pick up the Master Chief for extraction. Foe Hammer tried, but was shot down by Banshees. Master Chief had to instead commandeer a Longsword to escape Halo's destruction.
2. In which "Halo" game did the player character fight with Nobel Team?

Answer: Halo: Reach

Noble Team was a team of mostly Spartan IIIs that was on the planet Reach when the Covenant launched their invasion. They conducted a number of important missions against the Covenant, including destroying capital ships, protecting and extracting the AI Cortana, and ensuring her safe escape on the Pillar of Autumn. During the campaign, Noble Team slowly diminished. To maintain the image of invincibility, no Spartan was ever tagged as KIA, instead only ever being listed as MIA.
3. In which "Halo" game was the Brute Tartarus killed?

Answer: Halo 2

Brutes were first introduced in "Halo 2". They were large, strong, and fast aliens, but they did not use shields. After the Elites failed the Prophets in "Halo: Combat Evolved", their position as the Prophets' favorite race became shaky, and the Brutes moved in to take their place. Tartarus was the leader of the Brutes.

Tartarus served as a boss for the final mission in "Halo 2". The humans on Installation 05, led by Johnson, and the Elites, led by the Arbiter, joined forces to take down the Brutes and their leader.
4. In which "Halo" games did the player fight on Earth?

Answer: "Halo 2" and "Halo 3"

"Halo 2" had two missions on Earth in the city of New Mombasa, where the Master Chief helped repel invading Covenant forces. "Halo 3" started with the Master Chief's return to Earth to finally oust the Covenant off.

In "Halo", the first mission took place on the Pillar of Autumn in space, and the rest were on Installation 04. "Halo: Reach" took place entirely on or in orbit around the planet Reach.

"Halo 3: ODST" took place entirely on Earth, in or near the city on New Mombasa.
5. In which "Halo" game did the player visit the Ark?

Answer: Halo 3

The Ark, also known as Installation 00, was where the Halo stations could be controlled and new Halo installations were made. One was being created during the events of "Halo 3" to replace the one destroyed in "Halo: Combat Evolved". The Ark was outside of the Milky Way galaxy.

The Covenant went to the Ark to activate the rings and complete their religious Great Journey. The humans and their allies followed, and stopped the destruction of all galactic life, with the help of 343-Gilty Spark and Gravemind. After the Covenant was stopped, though, Gravemind turned on the humans. The Master Chief set out to activate the new installation to kill the local flood and destroy the Ark.
6. In which "Halo" game did the player meet Dr. Halsey, the creator of the Spartan II Program?

Answer: Halo: Reach

Dr. Halsey was originally introduced in 2001 in the novel "Halo: The Fall of Reach" by Eric Nylund. It depicted the beginning of the Spartan II program, Master Chief's training, and the humans losing the planet Reach to the Covenant.

Years later, Bungie decided to put the initial stages of the human-Covenant war into a video game, and "Halo: Reach" was created.

Dr. Halsey also created the AI Cortana, which was based off her own mind. Cortana was one of only a few smart AIs ever made, and the humans could not afford to lose her to the Covenant. In "Halo: Reach", Noble team was charged with getting Cortana safely from Halsey's lab to the Pillar of Autumn so she could escape Reach.
7. In which "Halo" game did the player NOT play as the Master Chief?

Answer: "Halo 2" and "Halo: Reach"

In the main series, players played as the Master Chief. In "Halo 2", the players perspective switched between the Master Chief and the Arbiter, an Elite. In "Halo: Reach" the player assumed the role of Noble Six, who could be customized to be either a man or woman, and have different armor pieces and color.

Noble Six took part in the resistance movement on Reach against the Covenant invasion. Six eventually transported the AI Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn during its evacuation of Reach. Master Chief's story was covered in the novel "Halo: The Fall of Reach" by Eric Nylund. The Pillar of Autumn was where the game "Halo: Combat Evolved" started.

In "Halo 3: ODST" the player played as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper known as Rookie.
8. In which "Halo" game was the Prophet Truth killed?

Answer: Halo 3

The Prophet of Truth was first met in "Halo 2", and was one of the three High Prophets, the other two being the Prophet of Regret and the Prophet of Mercy. Truth was the most influential of the three, and was the one most responsible for the human-Covenant war. Regret and Mercy both died in "Halo 2", leaving Truth to lead the Covenant alone in "Halo 3", where he was one of the main antagonists.

Master Chief and the Arbiter teamed up with Gravemind to stop Truth from activating the Halo network, which would have cleansed the galaxy of all life. The Arbiter was particularly angry with Truth for misleading his people. The Arbiter executed Truth with his Energy Sword. Immediately after Truth's death, though, Gravemind turned on the Master Chief and the Arbiter.
9. In which "Halo" games did the player character talk to Captain Jacob Keyes?

Answer: "Halo" and "Halo: Reach"

Jacob Keyes was the Captain of the Pillar of Autumn. Master Chief started "Halo: Combat Evolved" on the Pillar of Autumn. Keyes survived the Autumn's crash landing on Installation 04, and coordinated the humans stranded on the ring. Master Chief eventually had to kill Keyes to get his neural implants, but Keyes had already been infected by the Flood by then.

Noble team also talked to Keyes when they were securing Cortana. Keyes personally picked up the AI from Noble Six. The remaining members of Noble team then fought off Covenant forces while the Pillar of Autumn made her escape from Reach.
10. In which "Halo" game was Installation 04 destroyed?

Answer: Halo

Installation 04 for the first Halo structure seen, in "Halo: Combat Evolved". The Covenant believed the ring to be a weapon of immense power, and the humans began a race to gain control of it. The Covenant and humans, in their fighting, accidentally released the Flood held in captivity on the ring.

The Master Chief was recruited by the installation's monitor, 343 Guilty Spark, to activate the ring and eliminate the Flood threat. The Master Chief almost did so, but Cortana had figured out the ring's true purpose, and stopped him.

The ring was designed to eliminate all life in a 25,000 light-year radius, and when all installations fired, could easily destroy a majority of life in the galaxy, starving the Flood. The Master Chief and Cortana then set about destroying the ring to prevent it from being used.

They destabilized the Pillar of Autumn's fusion reactors, which detonated and destroyed the ring. The Master Chief and Cortana barely escaped on a Longsword fighter.
