Head bands are only worn by married men. Women wear goat or cattle skin skirts. Bare chests of unmarried women are covered by beads.

It is also the primary way to socialize with others and sometimes the experience would last the entire day! The Bedouins view coffee as an important symbol of hospitality and trust.

The Tuareg follow Islam, coupled with a belief in local deities. From the age of 18, Tuareg men wear a veil that completely covers their head other than the eyes. The women do not wear a veil at all, though married women cover their hair with a scarf. Unlike most Islamic customs the Tuareg women actually lead the family, are able to have premarital sex, and are permitted to divorce and marry again without any stigma.
