In 1977 the LTD II replaced the Gran Torino and was said to "Combine the big LTD's build quality and comfort with the Mustang II's sporty spirit", the LTD II was a good car but with gas guzzling V8's and imports taking the scene it simply couldn't compete. It was dropped in 1979.
