Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Press Secretary for 892 days

Answer: Sarah Huckabee Sanders

Sarah Huckabee Sanders (born 1982) was one of the longest-serving of President Trump's staff, with just under two and a half years in her job. Sanders is the daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and a graduate of Oauchita Baptist University in Arkansas.

Before joining Trump's staff, Sanders had spent most of her political career in Arkansas. She served as the national political director for her father's 2008 presidential campaign, and worked for Tim Pawlenty in 2012. She worked as communications director on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign before joining the White House staff as Deputy Press Secretary in January 2017. She took over as Press Secretary in July 2017 and left the White House on July 1, 2019.
2. Secretary of Interior for 672 days

Answer: Ryan Zinke

Ryan Zinke (born 1961) was a Navy SEAL before going into politics. He served one term as the congressman from Montana before Donald Trump tapped him to serve as Secretary of the Interior.

Zinke promoted the Trump administration's policies of opening up federal land to oil and gas exploration. His tenure was controversial, and allegations were made regarding his travel expenditure. In October 2018, Zinke was being investigated by the Department of Justice, and he announced his retirement in December 2018.
3. Attorney General for 639 days

Answer: Jeff Sessions

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions (born 1946) was senator for Alabama for 20 years before he was named Attorney General, and was a graduate of Huntingdon College and the University of Alabama Law School.

Much of his tenure as Attorney General was overshadowed by the Mueller Investigation and other investigations into the ethics of the Trump Administration. Sessions recused himself from involvement in the Mueller Investigation due to his support of Trump during the 2016 election. He
announced his departure from the Justice Department on November 7, 2018, the day after the midterm elections.
4. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator for 504 days

Answer: Scott Pruitt

Scott Pruitt (born 1968) was the Attorney General of Oklahoma before being selected to head the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt had previously sued the EPA at least 14 times while he was Attorney General of Oklahoma.

He is another member of the Trump administration who left under a cloud of scandal, with at least 14 investigations into his behavior as a federal official. Pruitt announced his resignation in July 2018.
5. Secretary of State for 406 days

Answer: Rex Tillerson

Tillerson (born 1952) was the Chief Executive Officer of Exxon before being selected as the USA's chief diplomat. Tillerson, a native of Texas, got a degree in engineering from the University of Texas before starting at Exxon in 1975. He worked his way up through the ranks to become CEO in 2006.

One suspected reason for Tillerson's selection was his existing good working relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Tillerson was awarded the Russian "Order of Friendship" for his work in building up the Russian oil industry.

However, his relationship with Trump was contentious, as Trump would frequently undercut Tillerson's diplomatic efforts. Things really deteriorated after Tillerson referred to Trump as a "moron"; Trump fired Tillerson in March 2018 and replaced him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.
6. Secretary of Health and Human Services for 232 days

Answer: Tom Price

Tom Price (born 1954) was a six-term congressman from Georgia when Trump chose him to head up the Department of Health and Human Services. Price was a surgeon who got his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He worked as a physician for 15 years before getting into politics in 1996.

As a member of Congress, Price was a vocal opponent of the Affordable Care Act, legislation he would administer as head of HHS. Price is another member of the Trump administration who left under scandal, this time involving the use of private planes for travel. Price resigned on September 29 after only 231 days in office, the shortest tenure of any HHS Secretary in history.
7. White House Chief of Staff for 190 days

Answer: Reince Preibus

Wisconsin attorney Reince Preibus (born 1972) was the chairman of the Republican National Committee before being selected as Trump's first Chief of Staff. Preibus served as the RNC from 2011 to 2016 and was a major critic of President Obama.

Preibus had been an early opponent of Trump, and he and Trump were frequently at odds during his brief tenure at the White House, which ended on July 27, 2017.
8. Press Secretary for 183 days

Answer: Sean Spicer

Sean Spicer (born 1971) is a native of New England. After graduating from Connecticut College in 1993, he spent around 20 years in a range of communications related jobs. He joined the staff of the Republican National Committee under Priebus in 2011, and was working there when Trump selected him to be his first Press Secretary.

Spicer was another controversial appointee during his six month tenure as Press Secretary, and was parodied on "Saturday Night Live" by actress Melissa McCarthy. He left the White House in July 2017.
9. National Security Advisor for 25 days

Answer: Michael Flynn

Michael Flynn (1958) was a career military officer, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant General, before being selected as Trump's first National Security Advisor. Flynn served from January 23 to February 13.

He set a record as one of the shortest lived presidential appointees in history, resigning when it was discovered he had lied to the FBI about the nature of his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
10. Communications Director for 11 days

Answer: Anthony Scaramucci

Anthony "The Mooch" Scaramucci (born 1964) set a record for shortest tenure, starting on July 25 and getting fired on July 31. The Mooch's downfall began after a catastrophic interview in "New Yorker" magazine was published.

Scaramucci spent most of his career in finance, starting out at Goldman Sachs before starting his own venture capital firm. Scaramucci was an initial critic of Trump before he joined the campaign, and then the transition team. He held several unofficial positions in Trump's administration before being tagged as Communications Director.

Both Sean Spicer and Reince Preibus were vehemently opposed to Scaramucci's appointment. One of new Chief of Staff John Kelly's first acts was to fire Scaramucci.
