Answer: Hej

The normal word for saying hello is hej. If you want to be more polite you could say Goddag - good day. Or if it is in the morning, godmorgon, or in the evening, godkvaell.
2. But it is not always easy to get the attention that you wish from people. If you are standing at the tourist information booth and want to catch the clerk's attention by saying 'excuse me', how do you do that?

Answer: Ursäkta

If you just say Ursäkta that should be good enough.
3. Let's say that what you want to obtain at the tourist information is a town map. What do you need to ask for?

Answer: Stadskarta

If you ask for stadskarta you will get a town map. If it is a road map you need you will want to ask for bilkarta.

Answer: Vandrarhem

A youth hostel is a cheap way of staying. If you want to find an hotel instead it's easy in Swedish, just ask for hotell.

Answer: Spaarvagn

Spaarvagn means wagon on rails - pretty logical. A bus is simply called buss and a taxi - taxi. Swedish is not so difficult.

Answer: Korv med mos

When you have asked for that you will be asked whether you want your sausage boiled or fried - kokt eller grillad. And whether you want ketchup and mustard - ketchup(!) och senap.
