A civilian population of about 2,500,000 soon became dependent on reserve stocks and airlift replacements.On July 1, ten-ton capacity C54s began supplying the city by airlift. General Curtis Le May was in charge of it. Lucius Clay was governor of the American zone of occupied Germany. Truman was the man in the White House.

Eduard Benes was one of the co-founders of the CSR. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1918 till 1935. Prime Minister in 1921-22, President from 1933 till 1938. Resigned after the Munich Agreement. President of the Czechoslovakian government in exile in London. Again President of Czechoslovakia in 1945.

In June 1948 the Communists seized power and Benes was replaced by Klement Gottwald. Gottwald (1896-1953)was Prime Minister from 1946 till 1948 and President from 1948 till 1953. Fierlinger(1891-1976) was his predecessor as Prime Minister. Husak (1913-1991) became the new Party Secretary after the overthrow in April 1969 of Dubcek's Government. President of the CSSR in 1975. Succeeded to by Milos Jakes in 1987.

His full name is Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn. He was born in 1925, on various occasions he got a ministerial job in the Labour Governments under Wilson and Callaghan. Lord Home (aka Sir Alec Douglas-Home) also had to give up his title to become Prime Minister in 1963.

He had already played a role under Arthur Neville Chamberlain, was Foreign Secretary under Mac Millan, and later again under Edward Heath. Became Lord Home again in November 1974. Lord Denning has been called the greatest and most colourful judge Britain had in 20th century.

He was born in 1899 and died in 1999.

Abu Nidal is the pseudonym of Hassan Sabri al Banna, the leader of the Palestinian guerilla-group Al Assifa (the Storm).Tried to assassinate Arafat and was in his absence condemned to death. Iraq and Syria are said to support Abu Nidal.
