Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is a way to introduce yourself in Polish?

Answer: nazywam sie

You need to say "Nazywam sie..." and then say your first name and surname. "Kogo diloko" doesn't exist in Polish; "do widzenia" is good-bye and "przepraszam" means: excuse me, I am sorry.
2. The word "prosze" can be used in a few different contexts.

Answer: True

This word literally means "please", but can also be used as an equivalent of "come in", when someone knocks on your door.
3. How do you thank someone in Polish?

Answer: dziekuje

You can also add the word "bardzo" when you say "dziekuje", to make it "bardzo dziekuje" or "dziekuje bardzo" (thank you very much).
4. In the evening you would say to someone...

Answer: dobry wieczor

"Do svidanya" is actually Russian for "goodbye". :) "Dobranoc" is good night and "dzien dobry" means good morning.
5. How do you say "I am" in Polish?

Answer: jestem

"I am" literally translates into "ja jestem", but in Polish, like in many other languages, you usually skip the subject pronoun followed by a verb.
6. Now how would you say "I'm reading" or "I read"?

Answer: czytam

The Polish language doesn't make a difference between the Present Tense and the Present Continuous Tense.
7. How would you say: "Mother says: Children! dinner's ready"?

Answer: Matka mowi: Dzieci! obiad gotowy.

The incorrect answers would be indeed incorrect in Polish.
8. How do you say "he is hungry" in Polish?

Answer: on jest glodny

"I am hungry" would be "jestem glodny" in Polish. If you are a woman, you need to say: "jestem glodna" (complicated, isn't it??).
9. What is the Polish for "I am thirsty"?

Answer: chce mi sie pic

You can also say, more formally, "jestem spragniony", but it is not very commonly used in the spoken language. "Chce mi sie pic" literally translates into "I want to drink". Luckily it can be said both by men and women ;).
10. The Polish word for "to book" or "to reserve" is...

Answer: zarezerwowac

Just try to pronounce it!
