3. The tower of Pisa was one of the co-called "Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages".

Answer: True

The Leaning Tower was one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages together with: The Colosseum of Rome, The Catacombs of Alexandria, The Great Wall of China, Hagia Sophia of Constantinople, Stonehenge, and The Porcelain Pagoda of Nanjing. The Leaning Tower was also one of the Seven Wonders in 1931 and a candidate of the New Seven Wonders of the World (2007).
4. To the nearest metre, how high was the Tower of Pisa by the end of the twentieth century?

Answer: 55 metres

The Tower of Pisa was originally 60m high, but as a result of the subsidence which led to its pronounced slant, it is now 55.67m high on the lowest side and 55.86m on the highest.
5. Of course everybody knows that the Tower of Pisa leans, but do you know in which direction?

Answer: Southward

The tower began leaning to the southeast soon after construction began in 1173 due to poor foundations and/or unstable ground. Today the tower leans south/southwest.

Answer: Diotisalvi

Diotisalvi is probably the original architect, due to the time of construction and affinity with other Diotisalvi works, notably the bell tower of San Nicola (Pisa) and the Baptistery in Pisa. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was built as a bell tower for the cathedral.

9. It's time to explain the title of this quiz: I've written "towers" because there are more leaning towers in Pisa! How many leaning towers can you find in Pisa?

Answer: Campanile of San Nicola

The other two leaning towers in Pisa are the Campanile of San Nicola and the Campanile of San Michele degli Scalzi.
