Answer: Neal Gentry

CSM Gentry was hand picked to be the first Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Ranger Battalion when it was reactivated in 1974. CSM Gentry also developed the Coat of Arms and Distinguished Unit Insignia for the Ranger Regiment.

There were 17 Airborne Ranger companies trained in 1950. These companies were trained specifically for combat missions during the Korean War.

The 75th Ranger Regiment is composed of 3 Ranger Battalions. The Ranger Regiment can trace its lineage back to WWI when it was the 475th Infantry and all the way to vietnam when it became the 75th Infantry. The 75th Ranger Regiment is part of the Special Operations Command.

The 1st and 2nd Battalions were activated in 1973; however, the 3rd Battalion and Regiment were not activated until 1985.

Rogers wrote the standing orders in 1756. There were 19 standing orders that he used to train and judge his soldiers.

2nd Ranger Battalion was activiated at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. 2nd Ranger Battalion is responsible for assaulting the cliffs of Point Du Hoc and destroying a large gun battery that would have destroyed the Allied fleet that was sitting off-shore.

In 1974, the 6th Ranger Training Battalion was renamed Camp Rudder in honor of MG James Rudder.

LTG David E. Grange is a veteran of 20 campaigns. He was involved in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam. He served in three tours in Vietnam and was the director of the Ranger Department. He is a true hero. His son, is a retired LTG and currently an analysis for CNN. His son was commander of the 1st Infantry Division.
