Brm50, thanks for such a lengthy explanation! I really appreciate the time you took to explain the situation so thoroughly! I get it now! I said that I just wanted to be immortal once, but there is something addicting about hitting level 10 that makes me kind of want to try it again in the next GC. That's impressive! I was only at 0.9% but I moved up in the ranks because I passed people who had stopped playing. I think I was #55 when I first got to level 10, and when I went to bed last night I was #45. Not that it really matters: immortal is immortal! Playing again after taking the last GC off. Ended yesterday at 100.0% through Division 1 and ended today at 100.0% through Division 2. Have to remember to break the normal strategy and play Brain Twist first tomorrow to get to Division 3 just in case I have a great set so I can potentially get credit for an all arounder. Normally the strategy is to play the Brain Twist after you advance a level when you are close so you can get slightly easier questions in your regular games. Reply #9869. Jun 01 22, 12:35 PM |

Learned something new and important about the scoring. In the Forums, Wesley mentioned that the time penalty is rounded to the nearest 100 points when calculating advancement in the Global Challenge. This means that any time between 50 and 136 seconds counts as -100 points (for hardcore you obviously need to finish in less than 131 seconds). Less than 50 seconds means 0 time penalty when determining advancement. He also confirmed 200 and 300 point bonuses for * and ** categories respectively. Reply #9871. Jun 16 22, 4:11 PM |

Once again, got my favorite Difficult Daily Challenge today. The target was 13,746 cumulative GC points. Had a great morning set but truly stunk up the afternoon set and even had a DQ in Mixture: Game Shows, a category I usually do pretty well in but saw a number of questions in it today I'd never seen before and only got a 9/15. As a result of the poor afternoon set, today's Challenge turned into an unexpected squeaker: 13,851 cumulative GC points earned, passing the Challenge by only 105 points.
