Actually, the US used to win all the time, but it's been hard to recruit and then keep those recruits playing.

I tried to tell you playing in the public tournaments would increase your speed, RJ, and you didn't listen to me! And look at you now -- US Speedster Extraordinaire.

I'll come back and play for the US -- The US v. The World Tournaments are fun -- but it will be a little dicey this month. This month is always a little dicey, across the board.

Something major must have happened that fateful December, and then this blog just died?

I have only just remembered these tournaments, and I'm going to round up as many people as I can to get them back in there, or in there for the first time.

If anyone wants to play and needs help registering, let me know. I, or any of us, can talk you through it.

These tournaments didn't fold. Two of them are ongoing, and it's not too late in the month to leap in. They are great fun, but we definitely need more players. They're public tournaments -- if you're registered to play in any other public tournament, just use that name and password, and then declare your country in the little MB to the right when you log in. If you haven't played in public tournaments, you will need to register in both of these, but only once. If you need help with that, let me or us know. I strongly recommend using the name and password you use in FT.

Mel, I could use your help with this.

How did this dwindle to such a precious few?

I'm going on One Big Fat Recruiting Tear.

I tried, but it kept coming back INVALID USER ID/PASSWORD.

I just used the same user id password to log back into my team tournament. That's why you can't recruit new players, it's too frustrating to get in.

Mark. Go read my instructions again. You have to register, once, for every public tournament you play in. Then, you have to log in to play that tournament.

Because you were able to log back in to your Team Public Tournament, doesn't that prove that this is not impossible? You won't get lost out there, unable to get back to your team tournament. I promise!

People didn't lose interest in these; two out of four of them were dismantled. I don't remember why.

Explaining how to register is so much harder that just doing it. For the life of me, I can't figure out which part of my instructions just do not make sense.

Oh, I can recruit new players...

I just wonder why so many of them wandered off. My guess is, realizing two of four tournaments came down, although I don't remember why now.

I just need a little help. Mel? Surely you want people to "feed," right?

Stew? How about you?

Thank you to Postie for making this flawless. Now, we just need you to follow these instructions so you can play. The royal you. Y'all. All y'all:

Private Tournaments

Upper right corner ... Log Out
Do ***not*** type in your ID and password
Just above ID box, click 'Create a free trivia account'
Fill in email
Fill in user ID
Fill in password
(Note that email, ID, and password should be the same for all your private tournaments, to make things easier.)
Type the jumble of random letters
Check 'I have read and abide by conditions of use'
Check 'I am at least 13'
Click 'Create free tournament account'

You need to do this for EACH private tournament that you wish to join. Elle has done this 38 times (sounds like 39, now). I have done it 25 times. Now that we've done it, we can go from one to the next, without retyping IDs and passwords.

If you are signing up for the two U.S. vs rest of the world/UK tournies, you will need to follow the procedure twice. Being signed up for one does not give you automatic entry to the other.

I'm in both.
But with the current climate at Fun Trivia, it just isn't Fun for me right now.

Please don't let a few snarky people run you out, Mark.

These two tournaments are fun, and never, ever snarky. I promise.

Kevin and others:

To post in a public/private tournament, like the UK & Others Tournaments, here is what you do:

Type; hit Post; hit back arrow; hit refresh. Voila!

To declare your country? Type "I am playing for the US" or "I am playing for the UK & Others" in the MB.

These tournaments are fun, well-organized, and not a mean word is ever said.

I'm not very fast, yet. I'll get faster, but I will never be the fastest on the Easy questions.

I'm not usually fast, either.
We'll get `em with 'smarts', Mark :-D

I'd be a lot faster if my mouse would cooperate with this site, but it won't, and no one can actually tell me why. But not for lack of trying to figure it out.

Just go for "smart" -- it's a much better idea. But you will get faster, the more you play. It just happens. The more private tournaments you play in, the faster you get.

And speaking of patriotism...

Calling all Patriots! We need players in the two USA v. The UK & Commonwealth Public/Private Tournaments, which have been ongoing for 11 years now! The USA is especially lacking players. Here are the links. If you need help registering, let me know privately and I can talk you through the process. It's the same process you used when you registered to play in any of the public/private tournaments:

UK & Co. vs. USA Survivor Tournament

http://www.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=84836

UK vs. USA Challenge Tournament

http://www.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=73612

The US WON last month! The first time in awhile. The US used to win all the time, and this was very close, but we definitely need more players. Of course, players for both teams are welcome!

You have reminded me to play again. I play all Kyle's challenges and won the random prize last year which was very generous of him. A lot of the same people play in both so should be very familiar.

I used to play in Kyle's, but I was disappointed when he opened it up to those not members of FT. Just my opinion.
