https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNTQSbvlutg A scene from "Empire of the Sun". There is a lot going on in this shot. If you haven't seen the film, find some time to watch it. It's good. I am a lover of fine aircraft. Reply #1. Sep 12 13, 9:24 AM |

The finale of the original Godfather, with the infant christening juxtaposed with the mass slaughter: Michael, do you renounce Satan and all his works? Reply #2. Oct 30 13, 5:27 PM |

In the same great film, I kinda' like the scene where the snobby film producer wakes up in bed with his favorite horse's head next to him. Reply #3. Feb 03 14, 5:49 PM |

How about the scene in the first Indiana Jones movie when the Nazis open the Ark of the Covenant and all hell breaks loose (or God, as the case may be) and their flesh starts melting. Reply #4. Feb 03 14, 6:25 PM |

There are probably 20 great scenes in Fritz Lang's Metropolis, but if I were to pick one as the most impressive, I'd say the scene in which Rotwang makes his robot look like the heroine. Frankenstein had nothing on this guy. Reply #5. Feb 09 14, 4:40 AM |

The scene in Blade Runner where Rutger Hauer's character speaks about his life to Harrison Ford's character, and then dies on the rainy rooftop. This is a poignant and very sad scene that makes me weep every time. Reply #8. May 18 15, 2:16 PM |

I also have to mention the scene in Rosemary's Baby where Rosemary sees her baby for the first time. The look of horror on her face is unbelievable! Reply #10. May 18 15, 2:23 PM |

I am 100 percent with you on Roy Batty's monologue to Rick Deckard in 'Blade Runner' rockinsteve! I posted that scene on another thread a while ago, but it deserves to be revisited. It brought tears to my eyes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoAzpa1x7jU Reply #11. May 21 15, 8:39 AM |

Have to put the death of Spock in 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" on the list too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVIt0DYKssI Reply #12. May 21 15, 9:04 AM |

Another scene, I realize, with great music. When they fight the alien in "Signs." It's so memorable and the music just takes it over the top. Reply #14. May 23 15, 9:06 AM |

I like the death scene with Spock, but the scene for 2001 Space Odyssey has to be the most poignant sci-fi scene. However, I think Sophie's Choice where she had to choose between her two children to save from the death camp is very poignant. I also think one of the most heartbreaking is the death scene in Camille (1933)- No love doesn't conquer all, but her life did change her lover's for the best. Reply #15. May 24 15, 2:41 PM |

The scene in Bonny and Clyde where they get shot. My friends and I stole in to see this at age 14 by pretending to be older than we were. The scene stuck with me for a while. It was quite shocking. Reply #20. Jul 21 15, 10:39 AM |
