1. The Flyers traded which defensemen to the Nashville Predators?

Answer: Danny Markov

Danny Markov was traded so that the Flyers could afford to sign Derian Hatcher. Ragnarsson and Malakhov were not signed so that the team would have space to sign other players.
2. Peter Forsberg was signed by which NHL team?

Answer: Philadelphia Flyers

Forsberg, who was originally drafted by the Flyers, was a surprise when he went to the Flyers instead of going back to Colorado.
3. Which superstar goaltender was signed by the Chicago Blackhawks?

Answer: Nikolai Khabibulin

Khabibulin was the only one of these goaltenders to be a free agent in the 2005 offseason. The others were all under contract.
4. Scott Niedemeyer wanted to play on the same team as his brother. Which team did his brother play on?

Answer: Anaheim

Scott's brother Rob Neidemeyer, was on Anaheim but had been on the Calgary Flames before. San Jose and Los Angeles are other teams in the area.

Jeff O'Neil was the one that was traded to the Leafs. Wesley had been on the Leafs before but was not traded to them.

Answer: Carey Price

Carey Price was the fifth overall selection by the Montreal Canadiens, and was the first goaltender taken in the draft. Many were surprised by this pick as many thought Montreal would take Gilbert Brule, who went to Columbus.
8. Who were the first major free agents to be signed in the offseason?

Answer: Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk

Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk had been signed by the Florida Panthers. Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne had been a big duo, were signed a couple years earlier by Colorado.
9. Which team did Chris Chelios sign with in the 2005 offseason?

Answer: Detroit Red Wings

Montreal was the team that drafted Chelios, and Chicago was one of the teams he played for. He accepted Detroit's offer to go back and enter his 22nd year.
10. Which defencemen returned to the NHL after two years, and signed with the Carolina Hurricanes?

Answer: Oleg Tverdovsky

Oleg Tverdovsky had spent his past two seasons in Russia. Johnson was Carolina's first draft pick in the 2005 NHL entry draft. Vrbata and Hedican were already members of the Carolina Hurricane and had not left the NHL.
