Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The writer of Revelation was a man who had been a loved disciple of Jesus! He endured many things for his faith and was banished to an island. Who was he?

Answer: John

John had been banished to the isle of Patmos because many people didn't like him teaching and witnessing to others about Jesus. Although John was separated from family and friends, he stayed close to the one he loved, God. One day God spoke to John and told him to get a pen and some paper quickly! He told John to write everything he heard and saw. (Revelation 1)
2. One of the first things God included in the book of Revelation was greetings to some special churches. How many churches did God write to, telling them what He was pleased with and what they needed to change?

Answer: 7

God spoke to seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. Some of them had been really good, and some of them needed encouragement to do the right thing. God wanted them to be ready because He was coming back to give every man a reward. He wanted them to be prepared for the things that would happen. (Revelation 2-3)
3. One of the first things John saw in heaven was a beautiful throne surrounded by a rainbow, 24 elders, and creatures. What did the elders and the creatures repeatedly call the one that was sitting on the throne?

Answer: holy

Holy means "perfect" and "pure". The one that was seated on the throne was the Lord God Almighty, and the elders repeatedly called him holy. He had the appearance of the brightest gems, unlike anything John had seen on earth. The One on the throne was so great, the elders put their crowns by his feet and bowed down before him. (Revelation 4)
4. An angel came to John with a scroll and asked if anyone could open it. However no one was worthy, except one. John began to cry, but an elder told him not to. Who was the one who was worthy to open the scroll?

Answer: The Lamb Slain

John thought it was hopeless when no one in heaven or earth was worthy to open the scroll. However, not all hope was lost! All power in heaven and earth had been given to Jesus Christ because he had died on Calvary to save both. He was the Lamb slain, because he was the only one without sin who could die for the sins of the world. (Revelation 5)
5. When the scroll was opened, terrible things happened on the earth. Which of these things was not one of the things God used before the terrible things happened?

Answer: arrows

God used horses, trumpets, and vials. When the horses came to the earth, terrible events of death and famine happened. When the trumpets were blown there were many natural disasters that happened. The seas turned to bitter waters and some turned to blood.

There was hail and fire. When the vials were poured out there were terrible plagues, sickness, and bad spirits poured out on earth. God wanted to get the people's attention, but they would not repent. Instead they continued to do horrible things. (Revelation 10-16)
6. God wanted His people to know that He never forgot a prayer. In one of the events, God used the prayers of the saints to cause thunder, lightning, and an earthquake.

Answer: True

God never forgot a prayer and saved the prayers of the saints for the moment when He poured them back into the earth. When he poured out all the prayers, terrible things such as lightning and thunder happened. There was also an earthquake. (Revelation 8)
7. The Antichrist and false prophet were two people that hated God and made the entire world worship them instead. They did many evil things. What was put on all of their followers as a sign?

Answer: a mark

A mark was put on the foreheads or right hands of all the people who followed the Antichrist. People who didn't have the mark were treated very badly and could not buy or sell. The Antichrist even killed some people for refusing to do what he wanted. He was given control over all the nations and kingdoms of the world. (Revelation 13)
8. When the armies of the world and the Antichrist came together for one final battle, God appeared with the host of heaven's armies. What did he do with the Antichrist after he destroyed the world's armies?

Answer: He threw him in the lake of fire.

The Antichrist had deceived many people into blaspheming God. He had killed anyone who tried to honor God. God punished him severely for all that He had done to His people. Later God also threw the devil into the lake of fire as well, where he could no longer harm God's people or tempt them to do evil. (Revelation 19-20)
9. All the people in the world were judged according to their works. What special book had the names written of all the people who would have eternal life in the Holy City?

Answer: The Book of Life

God wrote down all the names of the people who had loved and honored him with their lives. He kept all their names in the Book of Life. All the people of the world had to come to His throne to be judged. If their name was found in the Book of Life, they got to spend eternity with God in the Holy City. If their name was not found in the Book of Life, they had to spend an eternity suffering for the evil things they had committed. (Revelation 20)
10. At the end of Revelation, God and his people were together in the Holy City. What special thing did he do to his people's eyes, that showed his love for them?

Answer: He wiped away their tears.

The Holy City was a beautiful place that was as clear as crystal and brighter than any gem on earth. In the Holy City, God promised there would be no tears, no sorrow, no pain, and no death. He promised He would be with his saints forever and wiped the tears away from their eyes. He was the light of the city and there would never be another night. (Revelation 22)
