Answer: Adolph Rupp

The University of Kentucky was founded in Lexington in 1865. The Wildcats men's basketball team have set all sorts of records down the years, with Adolph Rupp leading them to five NCAA national titles during a career that lasted from 1930 until 1972. The team's home court, opened in 1976, was named Rupp Arena in his honour.
2. Born in Louisville, which NFL star won the Heisman Trophy, the NFL MVP award and a Super Bowl ring with the Green Bay Packers?

Answer: Paul Hornung

Paul Hornung was born in Louisville in 1935 and was an all-round sports star in high school before attending college at Notre Dame. He won the 1956 Heisman Trophy before being selected first overall by the Packers in the 1957 NFL draft. Playing at both the halfback and kicker positions, he won league titles with the Packers in 1961, 62, 65 and 66.

He won a Super Bowl I ring despite injury keeping him out of the game.

He took part in his final race at Atlanta in 2000. Darrell's younger bother Michael was also a NASCAR driver.

Harold "Pee Wee" Reese was born in Ekron in 1918 and made his MLB debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1940. Playing shortstop, he was selected to ten All-Star games and helped Brooklyn to its only World Series crown in 1955. When the Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles in 1958, he retired from playing at the end of the season but then took up a coaching role with the team, earning a second World Series ring in 1959.
10. The Kentucky Colonels were a professional team in which sport in the 1960s/70s?

Answer: Basketball

Based in Louisville, the Kentucky Colonels were one of the original members of the American Basketball Association which began play in 1967. During the nine years of the league's existence, the Colonels made the play-offs every year and won the title in 1975, beating the Indiana Pacers in the finals.

When the league folded in 1976, the Colonels were not one of the four teams accepted into the NBA, and they ceased to exist.
