Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Clue: This Dragon and Dragonfly duo are against bad guys, with names like Ripto. What is the name of the Dragon?

Answer: Spyro

In case you were curious, the Dragonfly's name is Sparx. He is Spyro's lifeline, effectively. He starts off a nice healthy yellow, but with each hit Spyro takes, he changes to blue, then green, and then he disappears completely! You can restore Sparx's health by eating butterflies. Once Sparx eats around 15 butterflies, you'll gain another life, so you can kick more bad guy butt!
2. Clue: What the?! Ducks are flying everywhere! and what do you have? A gun! Do you know what game you're playing?

Answer: Duck Hunt

'Duck Hunt' was released on the NES in November 1988. It was possibly the very first game to use something other than a standard controller for game progression. Unfortunately, the Gun controller didn't come with the game, and it was the only game you could use it for. One interesting fact is that other than shooting just the ducks, you could also shoot the dog that caught the ducks after you shot them. You didn't get points for it, but hey, why not?
3. Anagram: Slung Node.

Answer: Golden Sun

'Golden Sun' is a lesser known RPG, but it rivals even the most popular brands in originality and how addicting it is. Sadly, the series could only be found on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance for a long time.

In 'Golden Sun', you play a character named Isaac, who lives in the town of Vale. As you progress through your journey, you will meet friends, and fight deadly battles, which, despite being on a GBA, are still exciting to watch. Even your most experienced RPG masters will find 'Golden Sun' a challenge!
4. Acronym: PoP. You are a young vigilante warrior, fighting for your dynasty and honor!

Answer: Prince of Persia

'Price of Persia' originally came out on MS-DOS and Macintosh in 1989 as a side scrolling platforming game, much like the older Mario or Donkey Kong games. It could also be found on the SNES in the early 1990's. Since then, the graphics have become 3D (and awesome), the fighting style is much more complex, and the in-game puzzles have become a lot more difficult. Since coming to the PS2, 'Prince of Persia' has been born into a trilogy of blood and gore:

'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time'
'Prince of Persia: Warrior Within'
'Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones'

This game is a must try for anyone who loves a unique challenge!
5. Fracture: Resit Interval

Answer: Resident Evil

One of CapCom's most successful creations, 'Resident Evil' is into its 4th evolution (as of May 2008), and still going strong! You can find 'Resident Evil' games on the PS1, PS2, Sega Saturn, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox and Xbox 360. Apart from the graphics, not much has changed, really. You're still shooting zombies, and still saving the world from inevitable doom!
6. Hint: OK, all we have to do is move these blocks so they fall into the wee spaces, and... wha?! They're speeding up! Ahh, dammit! Too fast! What is this madness?!

Answer: Tetris

'Tetris' originally appeared in 1985, thanks to Russian 'genius' Alexey Pajitnov. (personally, I think he's nuts, but each to their own...)

The name stems from the Greek word 'Tetra', meaning 'Four' (because all of the blocks were made up of four squares each), and 'Tennis', which was Pajitnov's favorite sport to play. The goal of the game was simple: Fill in the spaces to make a row (a full row will evaporate and give you points), and keep going until you ran out of room. The game got faster, and faster, and faster, until you just couldn't keep up with it!

Word of warning: This game WILL have you addicted. When you've just got game over, and the little voice in your head says 'C'mon! you can do better than that!', you'll know what I mean.
7. Clue: This is one talented frog! He can cross the road, then the stream, and even jump onto the tiny platforms, all without getting squished! What game is this?

Answer: Frogger

Released in 1981 as an arcade game. You have to dodge cars, tucks, taxis and motorbikes, then cross a moving river to get to your goal! If you're 'lucky', a bonus may appear at an inconvenient place, forcing you to turn around and 'hop to it', and then it'll disappear the moment you get there. In some versions, your lil' froggy can even find romance (i.e. a female frog) for bonus points!
8. Hint: In this life simulation game, you can invite friends from all over the world to have fun at your place! What game is it? (Another hint: It's not 'The Sims')

Answer: Animal Crossing

'Animal Crossing' was originally released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan in 2001, but due to decreasing sales in Nintendo 64 merchandise, it was re released on the Nintendo GameCube for the rest of the world. It can also be found on the DS with the possibility of expanding even further in the not too distant future!
9. Clue: This game series actually makes you fitter! You can play tennis, or baseball, or bowling, without even leaving the comfort of your home!

Answer: Wii Sports

This was one of the first releases for the Nintendo Wii. It's just like playing the actual sports, except that you're a polygon instead of a person, and you're nice and safe in a house. You get all the good, and none of the bad!
10. Clue: Here's a new kind of fighting. A young boy defeats bad guys by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors! What's his name?

Answer: Alex Kidd

He could also punch his enemies, but for the boss at the end of every level, he played Rock, Paper, Scissors. Original, I have to admit. He first appeared on your screens in 1986, and was often regarded as Sega's mascot, until Sonic turned up 5 years later, and everyone forgot about poor Alex! He is a monkey like boy, who wears a red jumpsuit, and he can certainly pack a punch!
11. Riddle: If a Police Officer arrests someone for Motor Vehicle Theft, what might it otherwise be called?

Answer: Grand Theft Auto

'Grand Theft Auto', or 'GTA', as it's more commonly known, is a Mafia style shooting/driving/killing/random game in which you can do pretty much anything (illegal doesn't even matter!). There are several noticeable cars in the game, including the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ferrari F40, but the shrewd developers at Rockstar North changed them just enough to avoid having to pay the copyright fees.

The original 'Grand Theft Auto' came out at the end of 1997 for the PS1, and some Windows versions. Since then, you can play the game in third person, rather than a bird's eye view, and the story lines have become much more complex.
12. Clue: A Honey Bear and a Red Gull team up to save the bear's sister. What's this game?

Answer: Banjo Kazooie

Released in 1998, 'Banjo Kazooie' is one of the most popular games to come out for the N64. It was created by 'Rare', who also brought us the 'Donkey Kong Country' series and the legendary 'Killer Instinct', 'Banjo Kazooie' incorporates some very unusual tactics. For example, the tiny bird can lift the huge bear and carry it up steep cliffs by using only its talons!

The only drawback to this game was the sheer multitude of controls and techniques you had to remember!
13. Clue: In this game, you take the role of a small green (or blue) bubble dragon who can blow bubbles. The main idea is to trap your enemies in these bubbles and then pop 'em! What is this game called?

Answer: Bubble Bobble

'Bubble Bobble' is possibly the most successful game Taito ever released. Ever since its release in 1986, It has been found on pretty much every console you can think of before the SNES, and can now even be found on a Cell Phone!

The two dragons are named Bub and Bob (or Bubblun and Bobblun in Japanese), and they are annoyingly cute. 'Bubble Bobble' rivals 'Tetris' as one of the most addictive games you will ever play!
14. Game description: Roll, jump and slime your way through levels as you control the cutest little alien ever, the Goober. What is this game called?

Answer: GooBall

This is a lesser known game only found on Mac OS X systems. A very unusual game, as there are actually no bad guys whatsoever. The only real dangers are the cliffs, which you can fall off, and the intense concentration and skill required to just control the little guy! You don't actually move your Goober in this game. you move the screen, and gravity does the work!
15. Here's the deal: In this game (for Mac OS X), all you have is a marble, and you've gotta get it to the other end of the level. You may have to pick up things along the way, like gems, or maybe a super speed power up. Simple enough, right? WRONG! What is this game called?

Answer: Marble Blast

With over 100 levels, each and every one of them new, entertaining and challenging (except the first few, which are just easy), 'Marble Blast Gold' will keep even the most cynical person happy. Exclusive to Mac OS X systems, there really isn't too much you can't do with your marble on here. Just don't lose it, OK? Trust me, you don't wanna fall into oblivion.
