Why was an English Poet Laureate from the Victorian Era credited as a writer for the 1936 movie, "The Charge of the Light Brigade"?

Tennyson wrote the poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade" about a battle of Balaclava in 1854 during the Crimean War. The American film from 1936 loosely adapted Tennyson's poem for the movie and gave him credit as one of the writers for the film.
