There seems to be an extra island in the provided description, but this may be based on this somewhat famous claim in Ontario, Canada:
Treasure Island in Lake Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron is the "Largest island in a freshwater lake on an island in a freshwater lake in the world."

Here's a list of the so called recursive islands. Manitoulin Island is the largest with 2,766 sq km.
